Day 101 - 10 Mar 95 - Page 44

       A. No, I have not seen that to be honest.

  Q. Why have you not seen that?
       A. At the time of my visit there was not any cattle being
       delivered.

  Q. Have you not been a few times you said?
       A. Two or thee times, yes.

  Q. You have never looked at the unloading?
       A. I will not say I have seen it if I have not.

MS. STEEL: When you have made your visits to the slaughter
plants have you ever stopped the slaughter line?
       A. Have I personally? No.

  Q. Well, and asked for it to be stopped?
       A. No, I have not.

  Q. Mr. Oakley said that Mrs. Crawford sometimes asked for the
slaughter line to be stopped at Sun Valley. Are you aware
       of that?
       A. It would not surprise me if she had done that, no, it
would not surprise me at all. I do not know of any
specific occasions, but she does visit the facility very
       frequently.

  Q. Do you know of anyone else in your department doing that?
       A. Stopping the slaughtering line?

  Q. Yes.
       A. No.

  Q. You do not actually know whether or not she has done it?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: He has just said that.

MS. STEEL: When you visit Sun Valley -- I mean Mr. Oakley said
that he thought lot of visits were made to Sun Valley
because of the problem with a lot of bones being found in
the products. Is that something that you would generally
have to look into when you go down there?
       A. I would say, yes, the most common customer complaint
that we get is a bone from the chicken and so, obviously,
it is an area, one of the areas that we are concerned
about. The machinery that they have got in place now we
talked about to detect the bones at the end of the line was
put in at the insistence of McDonald's.

  Q. When was that?
       A. Work started on it I would guess about five years ago.
It was a very long process. There was not such a piece of
equipment ready and available to purchase off the shelf.
It was a matter of working very closely with Sun Valley and
Sun Valley working very closely with the manufacturers of
the machinery to get this piece of equipment to operate on
       the chick line.

  Q. Would you agree with Mr. Oakley that a lot of the visits
made to Sun Valley are because of trying to sort out
