Day 136 - 16 Jun 95 - Page 03
A. I worked for various architectural practices. The
reason for that was simply to get more knowledge of the
technical aspects of building and the infrastructure.

Q. Did you join McDonald's I think in 1980; is that right?
A. That is correct.

Q. Did you join as a crew member or as, as it were, a graduate
trainee?
A. No, I did not join as a crew member.

Q. Have you ever worked as a crew member?
A. Only on the odd occasions. We have one day in the year
when all the members of the staff in the office have to
work in the restaurants.

Q. I think you said earlier you redesign and refit or are
responsible for the refitting of the restaurants?
A. Yes.

Q. Do you ever actually do any of the design yourself?
A. I do.

Q. Do you sometimes also employ outside architects as you need
them?
A. Yes, we do.

Q. You are here because an allegation is made by the
Defendants that in consequence of an accident suffered by a
girl called Melanie O'Riordan at the Epsom restaurant in
June 1990 the floors in that restaurant were changed; you
are conscious of that reason?
A. Yes, I am.

Q. Is that a true or a false allegation?
A. It is a false allegation.

Q. Could you, please, fetch from behind you a pink file with
XIII on it? It is probably entitled "Employment". In that
file which, I am afraid, is rather fat, turn, please, to
tab 57 A ---
A. Yes.

Q. -- which should be a document headed "Irven Hall
Construction"?
A. That is correct.

Q. It is addressed to McDonald's Restaurants for the attention
of Mr. B Austin. Who is Mr. B Austin?
A. Bill Austin was the Maintenance Manager at the time.
He has since passed away.

Q. The?
