Day 155 - 14 Jul 95 - Page 10
did not feel intimidated by me having the position of
Restaurant Manager. I had a very open door policy.

Q. I am going to ask you now about the age profile of your
crew, roughly speaking, during your time at Seven Sisters.
What proportion of them do you think from memory would have
been under 18?
A. No more than 10 per cent.

Q. That means that 90 per cent or more were over 18?
A. Yes.

Q. Therefore, you correct me if I am wrong about this, there
will have been a good number of them who were about the
same age as you were?
A. Yes, I had quite a few people that were actually older
than me.

Q. I was wondering how many people there would have been; you
were 20, I think, when you started. I think I have that
right. You were there for two and a bit years. What sort
of proportion of crew would have been over 21?
A. I would say getting on 20/30 per cent, something like
that.

Q. Did you find yourself at any disadvantage dealing with
people who were older than you?
A. None whatsoever.

Q. Was it an advantage, disadvantage, or is it a neutral
thing, that a high proportion of the crew were roughly the
same age as you were?
A. I think it was an advantage. They could relate to me
more.

Q. Did you personally go out on social occasions with the
crew?
A. Quite often, yes.

Q. What sorts of things?
A. Just things like bowling, football, even just going to
the pub for a drink, restaurants.

Q. Again, I only want a rough idea, from what sort of area or
areas of London did most of the people come that worked for
you?
A. I had a mixture of two things. Maybe half worked from
the local area, and the other half, just down the road from
Seven Sisters there was a polytechnic, so I had quite a few
students from that polytechnic that were working for me.

Q. Would any of those students be full-timers?
A. Sometimes, it depends on their courses. If they had,
like, two hour placements at the end of a day, then they
would work maybe early morning until 2, 3 o'clock.

Q. If we take full-timers to mean people who work 39 hours or
sometimes more, can you give us an idea what the
proportions were between full-timers and part-timers?
A. I would say there was probably about -- one side
