Day 156 - 17 Jul 95 - Page 07
A. Yes, occasionally there were. There was not every
Saturday; it was just occasionally there were incentives
for the crew.

Q. Would something like: "Can we take £1,000 in an hour on a
till?" or something like that?
A. I would not use those figures but, yes, something like
that.

Q. Do you remember what the figures were?
A. No, I do not.

Q. Would £1,000 be completely unreasonable?
A. No, it would not be unreasonable.

MR. MORRIS: In your statement you said that the crew were
instructed to shift only one box of burgers at a time; this
was Company policy, yes?
A. Yes.

Q. Is that because it would be considered unsafe to carry more
than one box at a time?
A. Yes, generally, you know, for the person's own safety.

Q. Then you say: "We expected our" -----

MS. STEEL: You actually said when you gave evidence that they
should not try -----

MR. RAMPTON: Your Honour, I do believe the Defendants should
stop playing Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. It is not fair
on the witness.

MR. MORRIS: It saves time.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, but it is rather distracting.

MS. STEEL: We are trying to compartmentalize the various
subjects.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I understand that, but do your best to stick
with one subject for sometime then.

MS. STEEL: The thing is we are not that far off finishing.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I thought that might be so; if you cannot do
it for that reason, say so. If you find it difficult for
any reason having one person ask you a question and then
another, say so and we will try to think of some way around
it. I am not suggesting for a moment you are doing it on
purpose.

MS. STEEL: We are not doing it on purpose, but the purpose
being to try to finish it sooner.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, you are not doing on purpose to cause
difficulties to the witnesses.

MS. STEEL: No.
