Day 163 - 25 Sep 95 - Page 29
MR. MORRIS: I think I checked it up on a map or something.
I think that deals with that particular one.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes, No. 8?

MR. MORRIS: If we look lower down that page we have
November 21st 1992, Buffalo News reporting about child
labour law violations being fined for 25 firms. If we turn
over the page as part of that report, the last firm
identified as being fined was McDonald's 3534, Delaware
Avenue, Kenmore (which I have assumed is New York State,
because Buffalo News comes from New York State and I think
there is a Kenmore in New York State) $750 fine for failing
to obtain employment certificates from three minors.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Particular 9, if we go to page 20, in fact, if we
go back to page 19 we can see it comes from Los Angeles
Times, July 2nd 1992, talking about fines. The very first
paragraph on that page talks about there was some kind of
sweep of businesses checking on child labour laws
violations. Over the page, which is at one of them, on
page 20, in the middle of the page, was McDonald's,
324 West Norbury Street, Lancaster, which I have assumed
was California, violation of child labour hours regulations
in respect of two minors, fined $1,200.

The next one is page 22. Here we have a report from June
16th 1992 of the United Press International regarding Bay
Area firms (at the top) fined for child labour violations.
The first paragraph reads: "The US Department of Labour
announced Tuesday they had fined 20 employees in Santa
Clara and Santa Cruz counties a total of $203,000 for
violating child labour laws."

Then over the page it has a sort of list of various
companies fined. At the end it says: "Other outlets fined
by the Labour Department were food ... (reading to the
words) ... grocery, etc. and McDonald's". It actually
says: "McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants",
so I do not know if that is a plural or a singular.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It says "and individual chuckie cheese,
McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants".

MR. MORRIS: Yes -- must be individual then, yes.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: The last one is page 29. This comes from a report
of the United Press International, August 10th 1990. If
you look at the head, the front first paragraphs under the
word "Body": "The Federal Government added 19 New England
businesses to its list of accused child labour law
violators uncovered in investigative sweeps earlier in the
year."

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Where are you now?
