  Q. When did you start working for McDonald's?
       A. 27th July, 1989.

  Q. How old are you now?
       A. 23.

  Q. What position have you reached at McDonald's?
       A. Swing Manager -- he is a Swing Manager, the leader of
       the team.

  Q. How long have you been a Swing Manager?
       A. Since 1990.

  Q. Have you received any accreditation from McDonald's?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you explain what you mean by
       "accreditation"?

  MR. MORRIS: The -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Obviously, it did not mean anything to the
       witness.

MR. MORRIS: (To the witness): Any award, or anything like
that, from McDonald's -- an award. Have you received an
       award from McDonald's?
       A. He says "yes".

  Q. Just explain. Can he explain?
       A. He received a diploma for best team leader in that
restaurant. He has received a present from Michel
Antolinos, the director of McDonald's France, for his
work. He has received several bonuses.

  Q. When did these awards take place?
       A. In 1992.

  Q. Right. Now, if I read the -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: (To the interpreter): Can you ask Mr. Lamti,
when he gives his answers in French, if he can speak out to
the court and speak loud, because although you must hear to
translate them into English, it is part of the procedure,
where one has a witness speaking a language other than
English, that the original language be heard clearly
throughout the court as well. Can you explain?

THE INTERPRETER: Yes, I understand. (Pause)

MR. MORRIS: Should I ask the translator her qualifications?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You can if you wish, but there is really no
need to, especially when McDonald's have, quite apart from
anything which Mr. Rampton may understand, a skilled
interpreter in court who could immediately instruct
Mr. Rampton if he thought the translation was less than
accurate. If there is any challenge of that kind, there
are ways of dealing with it; but it probably will not come
       to that.
