     3        union, do you ensure that McDonald's workers know their
     4        rights on joining a trade union under the law?

     8        trade union activity is also unlawful in this country?
     9        A.  I am sure it is.

    11   Q.   So, were you concerned when -- I do not know if you have
    12        heard Sid Nicholson, who is the former Head of Personnel,
    13        say that workers at McDonald's, "would not be allowed to
    14        carry out any overt union activity on McDonald's premises".
    15          He included that statement on day 120.

    18        Company on whether workers were indeed being protected in
    19        their rights to take part in trade union activity if they
    20        so wished?
         A.  Did I order an investigation?  No.
