Day 256 - 04 Jun 96 - Page 06

  Q. Kolonel -- with a K?
       A. Yes.

  Q. OK. Just one question about personalities. Do you know
       Professor Michael Crawford at all?
       A. Yes, I do. He worked with us actually in the
China Project. We were interested at that time in seeking
out some authorities on analysing various sundry
(inaudible) in the blood and urine samples that we
collected in China; and he was regarded as a world
authority, actually, on the analysis of dietary fat and
fatty acids in particular; and so he, in fact, actually
analysed and then subsequently published with me some of
the data in the China Project.

  Q. Right. While we are just mentioning the China Project,
I believe you have a copy of the actual report with you.
We will not disclose it in full, because it looks like an
Encyclopedia Brittanica. That is one of the reports, is
       it?
       A. This is the first report. It is about a 900-page book
       full of data entries.

  Q. We can show it to Mr. Rampton. I have not actually seen it
       myself. (Handed)

Is that a comprehensive record of all the data, or is that
       just some of the data?
       A. That is a comprehensive record of all the data that
were collected. It does not include the 40 or so
individual papers that we have subsequently published from
       those data.

  Q. Right. Just one last thing about yourself: are you a
reviewer of articles to be published in the academic press
on these issues -- scientific press?
       A. Yes, if you are referring to my activity as a reviewer
on editorial boards of various summary journals. Is that
       what you mean?

  Q. Yes.
       A. Yes. I have been a member of, I think, some four or
five editorial boards of various pay review scientific
       journals.

  Q. Thank you. I think we will leave that and move on from the
CV. I will read out your first statement, which is dated
       27th July 1994.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Can you find that? It should be further on in
the bundle, and it is the one from Cornell to Peter Cox.
       A. Right.

  Q. Do you have that?
       A. I think so. You said July 27th, 1994?

  Q. That is right.
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Yes. I think this was in response to something
