Day 261 - 12 Jun 96 - Page 14

       exactly what that was?
       A. What the information was?

  Q. Yes.
       A. No, I cannot remember.

  MR. MORRIS: Right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: You must put the challenge, if there is
one. It is the second time I have asked you to.

MR. MORRIS: I am getting more information, and it is quite
       important -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Very well. You must put it. In my notebook,
if you do not make a specific challenge, I make a note of
the fact that you have not; and if you go into the witness
box and then say something positive which is contrary to
what the witness has said, when I have invited to put a
challenge and you have not, I begin to wonder why, or I may
wonder why. So it is very important that you do it if
       I ask you to.

MR. MORRIS: Right. Thank you. OK.

(To the witness) Just before I do that, I put to you that,
bearing in mind that you said sometimes the longer version
of the leaflet was out of stock ---
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- and that nobody ever said, so far as you know, that it
was going to be reprinted ---
       A. I did not hear anyone say that.

  Q. You did not hear anyone say that -- and you would have
noted that and been concerned about that, that the reality
is that the fact sheet, the specific one complained of, was
       out of stock?
       A. It was sometimes out of stock, and other times there
were quantities of it, in the office.

  Q. In the filing cabinet?
       A. In the filing cabinet or on the shelf or on the table.

  Q. Did you see how many were in the filing cabinet?
       A. No. I did not count them.

  Q. Could it have been there were, you know, three or four
library copies in there, or something, which were shown to
new people, or something like that?
       A. I am unable to say that that is what their purpose was.

  Q. I put it to you that there may, in fact, have been -- the
reality was -- there were three or four library copies in
the filing cabinet which you might have seen. Would you
       accept that?
       A. It cannot -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Of the leaflet complained of?
