Day 268 - 24 Jun 96 - Page 09

       could you?
       A. No, that is correct.

  Q. You used to follow people home?
       A. I may have on occasion. Probably not followed because
       I had a car.

  Q. Right. So how would you check out somebody's address?
       A. If we had, or if I had an address which I believed a
member of the group would have resided at, I would have
driven to the vicinity of that address and waited to see if
       they turned up.

  Q. But you went off to check their addresses and that is
plural. How could you do that?
       A. I do not recall. If I was on my own, then it would
have been a mistake and it should have been "address", but
if I met up with somebody afterwards it could be
       "addresses".

  Q. Did you have other sources where you could use to find out
       people's addresses?
       A. Not at all.

  Q. Not at all?
       A. No.

  Q. What, never?
       A. No.

  Q. Your investigation agency did not have any contacts who it
could use to find out who was living at what address?
       A. I do not know. My investigation was joining the group
and my reports or my notes were given to the company
involved. What additional enquiries they may have carried
       out, I do not know.

  Q. We have heard from Mr. Nicholson that he had a lot of
contacts, he had contacts in the Police, and that all the
security department at McDonald's had contacts in the
Police who they might be able to get information about
protestors from. Did you have similar contacts?
       A. I have contacts in the Police, yes, but none of whom I
would have recalled using at that time.

  Q. Contacts in the Police who would give you information about
       people who you were investigating?
       A. No, not at all.

  Q. Not at all?
       A. Not at all.

  Q. Well, what were the contacts in the Police for?
       A. They are contacts for points of order, points of law,
what would happen in a case, what would happen next, what
       would happen in an investigation.

  Q. So are you saying you never got any information from them
about anybody you were investigating and in particular in
       this investigation?
