"Paul Gravett discussed the fact that a new McDonald's
branch would shortly be opening very close to Caledonian
Road office. It was decided that the exact date and time
of the opening must be discovered before any demonstration
       could be organised."

Can you remember whether or not there was a picket of --
       A. Yes.

  Q. -- or demonstration outside this new branch?
       A. Yes, I can remember it and I was there and it was
organised by Hackney and Islington Animal Rights. That is
       what I clearly remember.

  Q. Okay. If we move on to between October 1989 and October
1990. Do you remember what anti-McDonald's activities were
organised by London Greenpeace, or within London
       Greenpeace?
       A. Yes. I mean, the answer is none. Between the date of
the 1989 anti-McDonald's fayre, which I think was October
26th, and October 1990, there was nothing at all organised
specifically against McDonald's by London Greenpeace. The
McDonald's campaign as a London Greenpeace campaign I would
say was in abeyance really. It amounted to no more than me
and maybe one or two other people answering McDonald's
enquiries in the office. The campaign was a local group
campaign carried out by different local groups, green,
       environmental, animal rights groups.

  Q. So to your recollection the next anti-McDonald's event
would have been the World Day picket in 1990?
       A. Yes. And that was not just true for 1989-90. It was
also true for 1988-89. I mean, between the anti-McDonald's
fayre of '88 and, you know, the next thing we did was the
World Day McDonald's 1989. The same applied that year as
       well.

  Q. If we go on to page 55 of the notes, which are Mr. Claire's
       notes.
       A. Yes.

  Q. There is reference to a picket outside Chapel Market
       McDonald's?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Meeting at 12 noon outside the Body Shop on 6th January
1990. Do you know who that picket was organised by?
       A. Yes, that was the Hackney and Islington Animal Rights
       picket.

  Q. Was that the same one then?
       A. That was the same one, yes.

  Q. Mr. Claire has said that -- well, he said two different
things -- he said that the next open meeting was discussed
and a topic had been picked, and then he says that the next
week's discussion -- sorry -- no, the meeting on 25th
January 1990 was to be a McDonald's campaign meeting. Do
you have any comment to make about that?
       A. Well, it was not a McDonald's campaign meeting, no. I
