Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 14

  Q. In fact, having said that, it actually starts at the bottom
       of page 71.
       A. Yes.

  Q. "I also managed to obtain through correspondence on the
desk "- these are the notes of Mr. Claire - "that their
printer or printers who have produced some of their
       literature are Allgate Press."

Then there is some other details.

"Apparently they were asked by Hackney and Islington
Animal Rights group to produce more anti-McDonald's
leaflets but the printers printed London Greenpeace on it.
They now do not want the leaflets."

Do you remember these leaflets and do you know which ones
       they were?
       A. Yes, I remember them and they were the A5 leaflet.
Hackney and Islington wanted some printed because Hackney
and Islington were doing regular McDonald's demonstrations
and handing out a lot, and by mistake Allgate Press used a
different plate that I think had London Greenpeace's name
on it so they were useless to Hackney and Islington, so I
       think London Greenpeace had them.

  Q. Right. The --

MR. MORRIS: Just in case there is any confusion, what do you
       mean by "the A5 leaflet"?

MR. JUSTICE BELL: We know what that is.

MR. MORRIS: There was confusion earlier on.
       A. Do you want me to explain?

MR. MORRIS: No, it is all right.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I do not think it is necessary.
       A. All right.

MS. STEEL: Okay. If we carry on:

"Mr. Claire says I was told tonight that the BBC World
Service asked them if London Greenpeace would partake in a
live debate with McDonald's over its views, etc. Paul from
London Greenpeace told them yes. McDonald's reps told the
BBC no. London Greenpeace now plan to try and get on the
BBC World Service on its own. If not, they will still
advertise and use this info as victory literature over
McDonald's. They treat this as a great moral victory and
will not let it go/die down. Certain members in the group
think that McDonald's refusal is lucky because if
McDonald's had said yes, then maybe the true facts and
figures make LG look shitty. LG admit to not having any
sources for backing up most of their points in their
       leaflets".

You were present at this meeting?
