Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 13

"Paul attended again although he left after using the
phone. Paul is writing preparing a new anti-Mc leaflet
which shall be updated and is also working on a
book/booklet which should be ready this year or early
1991. Paul seems to be an author of all anti-Mc leaflets
or may be 'the' unquote author."

Do you have any comment about that?
       A. Well, it is, you know, it is just completely untrue.
I mean, it is his opinion, is it not? I mean, I was not
the author of all anti-McDonald's leaflets at all, you
know. I did not write the fact sheet. I mean, you know,
and I do not, you know -- perhaps he has got an idea of me
because I am knowledgeable about McDonald's I must have
       written the thing, you know.

  Q. Have you ever said that you wrote all the anti-McDonald's
       leaflets?
       A. No, no, I am sure I would not have said that at the
time because it was untrue. I did not used to say things
that were untrue or brag about them, what I have done.

  Q. Then it goes on:

"A girl by the name of Ellen/Helen also arrived. She
seemed to take control. She also wrote the minutes and the
agenda. She ran the meeting. She seemed to know a lot."

Then it actually jumps two pages:

"About the group and most campaigns. She has a lot of
knowledge on all anti-McDonald's activities past and
present. She admitted to helping with all anti-Mc
       information leaflets and their distribution."

Have you ever heard me say anything like that?
       A. No. I mean, if I had been there and I heard you say
that, I would have said something. I would have been very
surprised because, you know, it is simply not true. I
mean, you Helen, did not start coming to London Greenpeace
regularly until 1988. That was nearly two years after the
fact sheet was published, so there is no way, you know,
that you would have said that. No, he has made that up.

  Q. So you would be surprised if I had said that?
       A. Oh yes, yes, definitely, definitely. And, I mean,
also he is saying you controlled the meeting. I think that
is untrue as well. The meetings were not controlled.
Simply an agenda was passed round. Whoever was there could
write down what they wanted to on the agenda and someone
took minutes. The minute-taker, whoever they were, varied
from week to week depending on who was at the meeting.

  Q. Okay. If we go on to 8th February?
       A. 8th February, did you say?

  Q. Yes, it starts on page 70 of the notes, but actually I want
to refer to page 72 of the notes.
       A. Yes.
