Day 272 - 02 Jul 96 - Page 20

       1989 I organised both anti-McDonald's fayres almost
entirely by myself, with a little bit of help. Well, with
some help from Charlie in 1989 doing the stage, the music
events, and I think Andrew Clark helped with the printing
of the programme. And I had actually -- I remember in 1989
it got to about August and nothing had been done about the
fayre and then I decided I had done it the year before so I
would take it on again and do it myself.

  Q. Do you mean '89?
       A. '89, but I did it myself in that year.

  Q. Okay.
       A. During 1990 we again got to the stage of August and
nothing much had been done and that is when I think I
probably said at a meeting "I will do my share but there is
no way I am going to take it all on, as I have in the
previous two years, and if people are not prepared to do
it, then we have got to cancel it".

  Q. Right. If we move on to the notes of 13th September,
1990. I have got the find the right person.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Page 187.

MS. STEEL: I actually want the notes of Michelle Hooker for
13th September. I am not sure what page they are.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: They should be further on in the bundle you
       have.

MS. STEEL: It will be opposite - there is a little number 4 in
the margin with a circle round it and three-quarters of the
       page is blank.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It is at 201A and at 201B.

MS. STEEL: Do you remember Shellie?
       A. Yes, I do.

  Q. Right. What was her involvement in the group?
       A. Well, she very quickly took a very active role in the
group. I remember her turning up and she was a very
lively, friendly, talkative person and seemed to be able to
get things done and she started volunteering to do things,
lots of things, and I remember thinking at the time, you
know, it is unusual getting someone coming into the group,
you know, and they want to do a lot of things, it is great,
       is it not, you know.

  Q. There is a reference here in her notes to she had said at
the meeting that she had made arrangements for the public
meeting on 27th September. Do you remember whether or not
she was organising that meeting or taking a part in
       organising it?
       A. Yes, to best of my knowledge she did, yes, she took a
part in organising it. I cannot say exactly what she did,
       but, yes.

  Q. Umm.
