Day 280 - 17 Jul 96 - Page 03
MS. STEEL: The following column which is under numbers is in
the notes or the statements they said how many people there
were at the meetings.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: So, on 26th October Mr. Pocklington had a note that
there were about 20 people at the meeting. Then, the final
column is the names of the people who they have noted down
as being present. So, any that are initials are the
original five defendants. So 'P' is obviously Paul
Gravett, 'H' is myself, 'A' is Andrew Clarke, 'D' is Mr.
Morris and 'J' is Jonathan O'Farrell. The names that are
out in full are other people who were attending the
meetings. And then if you look on, for example, the second
page. For example, under the 4th January Mr. Pocklington's
notes records Allan as being present. Where they have
referred to any other inquiry agent I have put it in
capitals.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MS. STEEL: Then 'plus one' or the 'plus 4' is just, where they
have said "and another 4 people." I think that is it in
terms of explaining how that works.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. Thank you very much.

MS. STEEL: So, if I hand over to Mr. Starmer.

MR. STARMER: I am grateful for the opportunity to address you.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Without any disrespect to the defendants at
all. I am glad to see you here. I have had a perfectly
legible copy of your skeleton argument, for which I am very
grateful.

MR. STARMER: You did, and a full copy should be 11 pages, I
assume.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. STARMER: My Lord, I intend to go through the skeleton but
obviously not reading it.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: No.

MR. STARMER: And to use the schedule which you have just been
handed in addition. I am obviously not as familiar with
the evidence as everyone in the courtroom and I have used
extracts from the transcript of the cross-examination of
the three proposed third parties. So, hopefully that is
not in dispute. I do not know whether you have it to hand,
but it may be my learned friend when he replies it he
thinks I have any factual matter wrong can correct me and
bring it to my attention.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If you have, or if Mr. Rampton challenges--

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, Mr. Atkinson will deal with it in a sort
