: : Wear the Banner Mate its worked in Cuba, or didnt you realise?

: Do the people in Cuba realise?

: Please dont waste either of our days spoutting such drivel. Please let me in on how you classify Cuba as a success and I'll make sure the starving people in the rest of the third world nations know they qualify as a succes when using Cuba as the standard. We can also fill in all of the refugees so they can stop risking their lifes in flight of that abyss.

I'll tell you why Cuba is or was a success. Firstly Cuba had the finest health care and education system of any comparable country. Secondly compared to the arseholes that used to run Cuba (and still spend their ill-gotten wealth in an attempt to undermine the place) Castro looks like a bloody saint. Thirdly any country that can withstand the pressure the United States has placed on it must have an internal cohesion and sense of common purpose that is decidedly lacking in most countries. Most Cubans although sadly disappointed with their standards of living (Largely due to the US ) still regard Castro as a man of integrity who has maintained the spirit of their revolution to an extent that is remarkable. How about living in the American sponsored dictatorships that used to abound in shit-holes like El Salvador?
The mindless jingoistic crap that comes out of the United States is largely due to an educational system that preaches truisms instead of the analytical skills that are required for independent thought. Makes quiet little workers though (provided you can intimidate that rest of the world into maintaining the consumer demands of the self-indulgent). Love to see how patriotic the Yanks would be if they were a little country having the worlds hegemonic power trying to shit down their neck at every opportunity. (And trying to illegally force other countries into abandoning their trade links)
Yeah Cuba is no picnic, nor is it utopia, but I'd rather live in a country that at least tried ethical government than to live in a country that would sell out its grand-childrens future and that of the whole planet for a fucking Big Mac. Do you want fries with that asshole?
