Tuesday, July 15Location: Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil Today's weather: 16░C, Cloudy Not much to write about today. I spent most of the day writing and preparing material on my computer while Susi was at work. The weather outside isn't so great – I think it might rain soon. Breakfast was typically Brazilian. Drinking yoghurt, fruit juice, and small bread roll (pπozinho). This was followed by coffee. Susi still thinks that it is strange that I drink black coffee without milk or sugar. Brazilians are renowned for their coffee, but make it by heating up a small pot of milk, then pouring a little coffee into it from a coffee-pot. If they drink black coffee it is in a very small cup and heavily dosed with sugar. In the evening, I travelled with Susi to a language academy, called Yukuzi, where she was studying English, so that we could pick up the results of her last test. Susi passed with 90 percent – but I'm not surprised because her English is good, and she's pretty smart. I talked briefly with Susi's teacher and some classmates. They are all being taught American English, which means they speak with American accents. Yukuzi also have programmes for schoolchildren where they run a school entirely in English. Afterwards, Susi and I travelled out for dinner, chatted and ate pizza. |
