Subject: Re: Pinball Illusions - The word from Tech Support

It's easy to forget how old Pinball Illusions is when you compare it to the current crop of Pinball offerings. ;-)

Please bear in mind that since Illusions was developed there have been TWO new standards in graphics display, TWO leaps forward in Sound Card technology, TWO leaps forward in terms of processor function, TWO new models of Motherboard caching technology and a whole new system of RAM chips !!

I've got an 8X CD-ROM drive, that has problems with Pinball Illusions, but we also have an 8X CD-ROM drive that *Doesn't* have problems with Pinball Illusions.

When I changed system to the point where I was getting the problems I changed not only my CD-ROM drive but also my Motherboard, Graphics Card and Sound Card. Most of the other people with problems after upgrade are in the same boat.

The official line from me as 21st Century's Tech Support manager is that *some* radical changes in hardware configuration can cause problems with running Pinball Illusions. At present we don't have enough information to gauge *exactly* which pieces of "nu-tech" are causing the problems.

The original coding team, DI, have moved onto other projects (non-pinball related) and the PC conversion team, FLD, have scattered to the four winds. It's going to be *very* difficult for us to produce a patch, for those reasons.
