I believe you are referring to the 1975 Microgames "Spirit of 76" which was the first solid state table, and had the ability to "remember" the table from player to player. The 1976 Gottlieb "Spirit of 76" is more widespread and was a simple electro-mechanical table.
It is the Gottlieb table that is being ported in Microsoft Pinball Arcade.

I have no beef with empire. In fact they have consitently proven to provide the best pinball sims on the market.
I was just saying that When you design your own table, you can also design workarounds for your physics challenges, so that they go unnoticed.
Microsoft, by porting in tables did not have that luxury, and I think they did a good job considering the # of tables, and having to provide realistic game play for some of the older pins.

: AFAIK "Spirit of 76" was the first
: Solid State pinball table.
: That was the only thing special about that table. Production was cut after
: a few hundred(or just hundred?) exemplars because noone liked it.
: PP: Brusa has a wide open table but
: again no real plunger.
