Royal Flush ported for MAC
Original Publishing Date (y/m/d): 1998-04-11

I know many of us have been sorrow over the fact that Royal Flush was never released for mac, only for pc. Well, recently Gerard Putter finished his MAC conversion of Royal Flush and released it as freeware (download it from his homepage). Why now? read on...

To clear things up I mailed Gerard asking about the Royal Flush version for the mac that he had available for download on his page.

Gerard: In 1994 I signed a deal with Amtex to port the PC version of Royal Flush (then being developed by Mike Pot), to the Macintosh. I had met with Amtex on the Tristan shootout, early 1994, in San Fransisco, where I was one of the contestants (and ended in second place). I did the actual programming job during the first half of 1995. Unfortunately Amtex never lived up to its obligations and never payed me any money at all, in spite of their contractual obligations. I later found out that Mike Pot, the programmer of the DOS version, did not get all of his money either.

Anyway, I spent more than a year on discussions, letters, lawyers, etc. to make Amtex live up to its obligations. Needless to say that because of all this they never got the finished product (they did get alpha and beta versions though). Amtex went out of business late 1996, and I decided then to make a "stripped" version of RF, that did not have references to Amtex future releases (the "Album" feature), and that had a few more Macintosh-like solutions for some features (like a seperate window that shows the rules of the game, instead of momentarily showing them during game load).

Because of a busy schedule I could finish the job only a few weeks ago. Because of Amtex's attitude I consider the product my own. I don't think however I can make some real money with it anymore, so I decided to release it as freeware.

Visit Gerards page below to download the mac version of Royal Flush. From what I know the mac version performs perfectly.
