WHAT'S NEW
Summer Programs Menu
Now that winter has settled in over North America, it's nice
to have something warm to look forward to. We are pleased to
announce our new "Search by Country" menu for Summer Programs.
Users can now move directly to this menu from our Home Page
and select the country where they would like to study this
summer. As always they'll find the most comprehensive and
up-to-date listings for summer study abroad programs.
Liberty City Announces New On-Line Service
Liberty City College Promotions, Inc., the parent company of
studyabroad.com, is pleased to announce its newest on-line
service. GRADSCHOOLS.COM officially went on-line at the
beginning of January. This service, in the style of
studyabroad.com, allows prospective graduate students to
search through more than 120 subject areas to locate their
ideal graduate school. If your responsibilities include
graduate programs, please visit this site to submit your free
listings or pass this information along to the right
individuals so that your institution can be included. The URL
is http://www.gradschools.com
SPRING SEMESTER POSTER BLITZ UNDERWAY
There is one attribute of studyabroad.com which makes it
effective in reaching students and which sets it apart from
virtually all other "collegiate oriented" web sites:
Promotion. Almost half of the advertising revenues which we
collect are invested in on-campus promotion. We have found
that poster placement is the most effective means for us to
reach college students throughout North America and this is
the centerpiece of our marketing effort. In our biggest push
to date, we have just shipped thousands of posters which are
beginning to appear on bulletin boards throughout the US just
in time for the beginning of Spring Semester. We have added
several new representatives to our professional posting
network and we are now covering the vast majority of the
country.
MASTER SPONSOR POSITION AVAILABLE
studyabroad.com has one Master Sponsor position now available.
The Master Sponsor service includes a banner advertisement on
our Home Page, on each of our major search pages and on all
appropriate country pages. We limit the number of Master
Sponsors to twelve, in order to maintain the impact of these
high visibility advertising pages. In addition, we provide
Master Sponsors with extensive web site design, development,
and maintenance. If you are interested in becoming a Master
Sponsor, please contact studyabroad.com at 1-610-364-0400 or
webmaster@studyabroad.com. Discussions are underway with some
potential takers, but this rare opportunity is being offered
on a first-come first-served basis.
CONFERENCE REPORT
Mark Landon, of studyabroad.com, will be presenting a session
on "Maximizing Study Abroad Office Resources Through
Technology" at the College Consortium for International
Studies (CCIS) annual conference in Tucson, AZ on January 24.
Mark Landon attended the NAFSA Region VIII conference in
Richmond at the end of November and was involved in
conducting two well received, World-Wide Web oriented
sessions.
Mark conducted a workshop titled "Spinning Your Own Page on
the World Wide Web." He led thirteen workshop participants in
understanding the basics of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)
and helped them use Adobe PageMill to create their own
personal web pages.
In addition Mark worked along with Temple University's Joan
McGinley in conducting a "Standing Room Only" session on
Navigating the World Wide Web. Mark and Joan discussed the
plusses and minuses of various web search sites. In addition
they presented numerous sites of interest to those in the
international education world. Some of the web sites
discussed are listed here:
