Visiting Students enrolled for the entire academic year will normally earn between 36 and 39 US semester credits. It is always the responsibility of the US home college to award credits, and proper arrangements for credit transfer should be made in advance.
Programme costs for the 1999-2000 academic year, usually equivalent to 36 to 39 US semester credits, are $35,800. This includes Oxford College and University tuition and fees, six educational tours a term, Oxford Union Society membership, a medical plan and single-room housing in a flat or house, normally with at least one British student (a few scarce rooms in the very centre are doubles). To give students more flexibility, we do not charge for meals. Meal costs in Oxford colleges are about $700 per term, or about half the cost in comparable US colleges. There is a damage/security deposit of $250 per term, returnable (minus any charges) after the housing has been inspected and bills received by WISC.
The costs for one term in 1999-2000, usually the equivalent of 14 to 16 semester credits or one standard US semester, with thirteen weeks in residence, are $15,800. The costs for two terms in 1999-2000 (Fall and Winter or Winter and Spring) are $26,800. Two terms are usually equivalent to between 28 and 32 US semester credits. The costs for the optional five-credit September 1999 (pre-Fall) programme (which is supervised by the University of Oxford) are $3,200. Fees for 2000-2001 will probably increase slightly. The core course in British society is offered at no extra cost.
