AS A REGISTERED VISITING STUDENT WITH
UNIVERSITY PRIVILEGES IN A MEDIEVAL COLLEGE
AND LIVE WITH BRITISH STUDENTS IN THE VERY CENTER OF
OXFORD
WITHIN A FIVE MINUTE WALK OF YOUR COLLEGE.
SUMMER STUDY AVAILABLE.
We conduct a program with several colleges of Oxford and Cambridge for students with minimum indices of 3.2 (the average index for last year was 3.7). Although students are degree candidates in their home college and not of Oxford University, they are taught in the same way and to the same standard by Oxford tutors who normally teach degree candidates.
If you have completed two years of college with a 3.2 in your major you may apply to study in Oxford. Students may enroll for one term, two terms or the entire academic year. Qualified students recommended by WISC are associate students of their Oxford colleges and are taught by their personal tutors in the same way as degree candidates. Graduate study is available.
Housing is with British students and all rooms are located within a ten minute walk of the center of Oxford. A majority are located within a five minute walk of the student's college.
Primarily because the chairman and co-chairman of our advisory board are Oxford alumni (Christ Church and Balliol) and because our chairman served for three years as a Visiting Research Fellow in International Relations, MC, Oxford University, we work with several of the Medieval and Renaissance Oxford colleges: New College, founded in 1379, Trinity College(1554) and Magdalen College (1458). Almost all of the other overseas study programs in Oxford (with the exception of Stanford, which admits only its own students) are not associated with any of the Medieval colleges -- they mostly work with colleges chartered in this century. We have also placed a few students in Cambridge University.
WISC, together with cooperatiing programs of US colleges, is by far the largest overseas study program in Oxford. WISC is also, so far as we know, the only educational institution in the world which offers a money-back guarantee if even one of twenty specific promises is not kept. (Please see our advertisment in Study Abroad).
Since 1985 students who had previously studied at more than 300 leading US colleges(including Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, Brown, Penn, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Tufts, Stanford, etc.) recommended by WISC have studied in Oxford and have received tutorial reports (with recommended grades) which have always been accepted for credit transfer by their home colleges. These students had received proper approval from their home academic departments in advance and future students must do the same.
