All students are encouraged to dine in their colleges (many of which have beautiful Medieval or Renaissance dining halls) as often as possible to meet British students and to save money (meals are only about $3.50 each). WISC presents each student with a black academic gown (required for formal dining).
Visiting and Associate Students are also eligible for election to termly membership of the Oxford Union Society. This famous debating club was founded to bring together students from all of the 45 colleges of Oxford, and frequently sponsors discos and parties as well as speakers from all over the world. The Union has a large lending library.
Previous students have said that the WISC office (with its staff of 10), located in the very centre of Oxford, has been very helpful in answering questions, making introductions and in ensuring that all goes smoothly and that all problems are solved quickly.
