Last episode, Ash and Pikachhu had an encounter with Team
Rocket, an infamous gang of evil PokΘMon Thiefs, in the Viridian
City PokΘMon Center, who Pikachu beat easily with a bunch of
other Pikachus. This wasn't too good for the PokΘCenter, as it
got totally destroyed. Then, Ash, Pikachu, and new ally Misty,
the owner of the bicycle Pikachu distroyed with his Lightning
attack in Episode 1, headed for the Viridian Forest, where
Ash encounters a Caterpie.
The episode starts off with a groovy camera angle of Ash's
encounter with Caterpie from last episode. Ash then threw
a PokΘBall, shouting "Caterpie, you're mine!" as he did. The
PokΘBall knocked Caterpie on the head, then opened up, and
Pikachu became a beam of red light, sucked into the PokΘBall.
Ash was very happy, but then noticed the PokΘBall was shaking,
and the button on it was red. He stared at it tensely, as it
continued to rattle. Then it stopped. A wide grin started
to form on Ash's face.
