Last episode, Ash decided to take a *shortcut* on his way
to Vermilion City to get a badge. Instead, he met up with a
PokΘMon Caring Center, and earned the Bulbasaur there. Then,
he continued with his friends on the road to the PokΘMon league.
This episode starts with Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu
walking along a dirt road. Ash stated that this was Route 24,
and would lead to Vermilion City. Misty was obviously
happy about this, and urged Ash to go on. Then, they approached
a large sillouette, which Ash thought was a "giant PokΘMon!"
Of course, it wasn't. Instead, it was a Charmander sitting
on a block of stone. But it's just as exciting! Brock commented
that a Charmander dies if the flame on it's tail goes out after
observing the Charmander's tail. Ash said that he had wanted a
Charmander for his first PokΘMon, so he threw a PokΘBall at him,
but Charmander knocked it back. He suggested the idea of
fighting Charmander, but the small flame on his tail made him
think otherwise, and so threw the PokΘBall again. The PokΘBall
succeeded in getting Charmander in, but Charmander got out, with
a grim look on his face.
Pikachu then went up to him, and *asks* Charmander about
his stubborness, then returns to Ash with CUTE ^_^ sign
languages. Ash actually understood this, and translates it for
Misty and Brock, saying that Charmander is waiting for his
master. Ash and the others decided to leave him along after
that, and continued on what's supposed to be a PokΘMon Center
that's ahead.
After a few hours there, a thunder storm started. Ash and
his friends started worrying about Charmander, hoping that
his trainer had found it. But then they overheard someone
at a different table ditching his Charmander on a rock. Of
course, Ash was enraged by this, Brock even more so. Ash
and Charmander's trainer was about to fight, when Nurse Joy
stopped them, saying that using PokΘMons for personal problems
is an insult to PokΘMons.
Ash soon decided to get Charmander out of the rain. When
they found Charmander, he had a large leaf over him and he
only had an inch of fire on his tail left! (Oh no!) Ash and
Brock cooperated on this one, Ash protecting the flame on
Charmander while Brock carries it.
When they finally got back to the PokΘMon Center, Nurse Joy
was anxiously waiting for them by the door, and immediately took
in Charmander.
After a long time of waiting, Brock especially, Nurse Joy
stepped out of the Emergency Room with a blank face, but soon
turned into a smile as she noticed Ash, Misty, and Brock's
anticipating.
"Charmander's resting right now," she claimed, while showing
Ash and friends a Charmander in a glass-encased bed, sleeping.
"He'll be fine in the morning."
And morning came. But not with Charmander. Ash was abruptly
awakened from his deep, rather loud sleep by Brock, who was first
to notice that Charmander was gone! However, he's fine, don't
worry, but he's heading off to his little rock to wait for that
evil Damien. He's such a snob, eh? I hate him.
Well, scene changes to Team Rocket! Seems like they've got
a new hole-driller! Groovy, eh? "NOT ANOTHER HOLE DRILLER!"
Meowth cries unpleasantly. "We TRIED that already!" he finished
in exasperation.
"But this time we'll remember where the hole is!" Jessie
proclaimed, and proceded to use the hole driller, digging a GOOD
hole! "You know we're smarter than THAT Meowth," James finished.
Meowth was not convinced. However, when he saw Ash and gang
heading towards them, he quickly rounded up the two and the hole
driller into the trees in the background.
Pikachu comes walkin' along, but doesn't fall through the
hole, which really disappointed Team Rocket. However, along
comes Ash and his friends, and down the three fall into the hole.
Pikachu looks down into the hole and scowled, but was soon
panicking as he heard the evil cackle of...TEAM ROCKET!
This time, they came with an rubber suit! "I must admit,
it's not my color," Jessie noted, but it gets the job done!
Pikachu couldn't shock Team Rocket behind their rubber suits, so
he decides to make a run for it. But James promptly fired an
Anti-Pikachu Balloon Bazooka, which released a giant red
non-electricity-conducting balloon that engulfed Pikachu into it.
After Team Rocket picked up Pikachu in the balloon, they decided
to do some minor taunting of Ash and gang, and left.
They did not get far, however, as Charmander stopped them
in their tracks, promptly breathing a giant breath of fire,
which really messed up Team Rocket's hair. (Poor guys, I wonder
how much time they spent in the salon after that...)
Damien was watching in the background, and was surprised at
Charmander's power, so he decides to try to get Charmander back.
However, Ash was not willing to give Charmander up, so after
a few pep talks with Charmander, Ash and gang finally gets
Charmander to refuse Damien, and blow another breath of fire at
him, which was then accompanied by Pikachu's Thundershock, which
messed up Damien's hair really badly and made him go crying
to his mom. (seriously!)
So, once again, Ash gets another PokΘMon, although he didn't
catch it in a logical sense. And the episode ends.
