First of all, this is the very first PokΘMon TV Show Episode
aired in the U.S., strangely enough. So, I actually woke up
before the time the show started, and when it finally did,
I was greeted to a LOVELY introduction scene, which would be
the part where the main theme song...sings. This is ADDICTIVE!
ANYWAY, after commercials, the narrator says that this show
was an "exclusive preview." I just thought that was what the
person says every episode, so I began to worry when the narrator
states that our heroes, which would be Ash, and his friends
Misty and Brock, have passed Vermilion City and is on their way
to the St. Anne Cruse Line. So I'M thinkin, OH MY GAWSH! DID I
MISS 14 EPISODES?!? DID NINTENDO MYSTERIOUSLY DECIDE THAT
THEY'RE GOING TO AIR THE SHOW TWO FLIPPIN' WEEKS BEFORE
SCHEDULE?!? So there, you know I panicked, but receded after the
humor. So I'll just get on with the episode summary.
Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu were walking along the docking
bay of several cruise liners, admiring the size of them. Misty
earned herself a little cut-scene of her daydreams, which would
be lying on one of those beach chairs on a cruise liner, which
was then spoiled by Brock, reminding her that it would be
impossible to afford such a cruise.
So all four of them bummed out, continued to explore the
docking bay, which was then interrupted by two school girls
presenting them with, what'dyou know, St. Anne Cruise Line
tickets! The girl with the ticket started babbling on about it,
claiming it being the most "radical" PokΘMon party for "radical"
PokΘmon trainers, being interrupted by the other girl once, who
kept on her tedious yet hilarious supporting statement of "COOL!"
This part is really funnny!
After Ash and the others were informed by the two girls that
they were offering the tickets for free, they took the tickets
and started looking for the St. Anne.
However, the two *girls* were peaking at them behind bushes.
As it turns out, these two are in fact Jesse and James, who are
members of the infamous Evil PokΘMon gang known as "Team Rocket."
After verifying that Ash and his allies found the ship, Jesse
dragged an unconcious James, due to a hammer in his head
caused by his statement on what a cool girl he makes, still
carrying the fake girl voice.
After Jesse and James changed back to their normal clothing,
they joined up with Meowth, they're ally PokΘMon, in the Team
Rocket headquarters, they were greeted by "The Boss," who was
this guy in a...TV screen or something. After lecturing them
about their failures, he told him his plan. The only reason
it was necessary that Jesse and James should give out free St.
Anne tickets were because he was plotting for a bunch of Team
Rocket members to invade the ship's PokΘMon trainers and steal
their PokΘMon.
MEANWHILE, Ash and the others, who were on board the
St. Anne, were admiring the size of the ship. Then, Ash spotted
a crowd of people, who were gathered around a PokΘMon battle
between a middle-aged man with a southern accent and a boy. The
man's Raticate beat the boy's Starmie, but the man didn't claim
bragging rights, and tried the cheer the boy up some. This
obviously impressed SOMEONE as a woman with the same southern
accent came over to him and complimented his kindness. Then,
Ash challenged the man's Raticate to a duel with his Butterfree.
The fight lasted only a few seconds on screen, with the two
bouncing off each other with their attacks, but Butterfree
stunned the Raticate with his Stun Spores. But Raticate was
taken out of the ring by the man, who then called the fight a
draw before Butterfree could claim victory.
On a scene change, James was wondering around in the St.
Anne, but then was stopped by a Hispanic-looking salesman
offering him a fish. He claimed that the fish multiply very
quickly, laying 1,000 fishes at a time, and this allowed James
to sell the fishes, becoming extremely rich. James, being a
money-loving scum, accepted this offer, while daydreaming about
the wealth he'd have gained.
Now back to Ash and the others, who were feverishly munching
down on their St. Anne meals. Then, Ash was interrupted from
his chicken drumsticks by the middle-aged man he challenged
before. The man said that he'd like to trade PokΘMons with him,
saying that he was very impressed with Ash's Butterfree.
The woman next to him, the one with the same southern accent,
added that Ash's Butterfree was incredible, which sortov caught
Brock's attention as he blushed and kept droning the word
"Beautiful..."
Anyway, the man stated that PokΘMon trading was a common
practice, and was one way of spreading "PokΘMon friendship."
"Friendship is wonderful, isn't it?" Added the woman.
"Ya, ya!" Brock said. "Why don't you and I start a
friendship right now!" he finished with his tongue sticking out
like a dog-panting. Ash then appeared next to him and asked if
he should trade. "Ya, ya!" Brock replied. "Ya gotta trade!
Everybody should trade! Let's start tradin'!"
Ash reluctantly agreed, and was taken to a room where a
PokΘMon Trading machine was. After the trading procedure, he
just looked at his new Raticate PokΘBall with a frown.
Elsewhere, James was being yelled at by Jesse and Meowth
at his stupidity in falling for a trick, which would be refering
to the one the salesman pulled off. But James insisted that it
wasn't a trick, and showed them his Golden PokΘMon, which was
then proved to be paint from Meowth. At the query of how he
got the money for it, he said that his salary advance didn't
pay for it, so he took Jesse's salary advance, which earned him
a few kicks in the behind.
Ash was staring out at sea with Pikachu next to him. Misty
came and asked him what's wrong. Ash replied that he didn't
think when he traded his Butterfree for the man's Raticate.
Misty tried to be optimistic and stated that at least he got a
Raticate, though Ash didn't feel any better, say that when he
traded Butterfree for a Raticate, he was reminded of the time
when his Metapod evolved into a Butterfree.
In the Team Rocket headquarters, the Boss launched the
attack.
The people aboard the St. Anne were startled by tbe many
Team Rocket members, who demanded their PokΘMons. Jesse dragged
James back from his search for the fish salesman, screaming at
him that they have a job to do.
Jesse:To protect the world from devastion
A gloomy James: To unite all peoples within our nation...
Jesse: To denounce the evils of truth and love
James: To extend our reach to the stars above...
Jesse: JESSE!
James: James...
Jesse: Team Rocket! Blast off at the speed of light!
James: Surrender now or prepare to fight..
The people were shocked, and were even more shocked as the
suction machines Team Rocket members were carrying on their
back started sucking in their PokΘBalls.
When a Team Rocket approached Ash, however, Ash called for
Pikachu, who somersaulted towards the TR member, launching his
Lightning attack. Ash announced to everyone that they shouldn't
just surrender, but rather fight back. Of course, mostly
everyone agreed, and started calling for their PokΘMons.
Ash called for Pikachu again, but this time, a bunch of other
Pikachus appeared and all the Pikachus stood in a Pyramid form,
launching a huge lightning attack! (Kachu! Kachu! Kachu!
Pika - CHUU!!!)
Then Ash called for his Charmander, which got into the same
pyramid form with the other Charmanders, launching a big
fire attack. Meanwhile, thunder started rolling outside.
Brock then called for his Geodude, which formed into a ring
with the other Geodudes, spinning around like a frisbee, hitting
the TR Members. Then, Ash called for his Butterfree to join the
rest of the Butterfrees, but then was notified by Misty that he
traded his Butterfree for Raticate. Ash stared at the group of
Butterfrees as they used their stun spores on the TR member,
which gave him a flashback to the good times with Butterfree.
He then decided that he had to get Butterfree back.
But no matter what, the show must go on, as Ash called for
his Pidgeotto, who joined the other Pidgeottos, causing a large
tornado attack. Then, he called for Pikachu again and the
Pikachus formed into the pyramid again and launched a bigger
lightning attack, finishing off the Team Rocket members.
As the exhausted Jesse and James started to leave the St.
Anne, a huge wave crashed into the ship, which caused the
MagiKarp PokΘBall to bounce off, which Jesse and James started
chasing, as it was both their money that was put into the payment
of the fish.
Meanwhile, the captain of the ship was trying to convince the
attendances that the ship is fine, but later had his doubts as
he headed for the lifeboats, followed by the other attendances.
Ash, however, was trading back his Butterfree, and when the
procedure was done, another wave crashed against the ship,
knocking the PokΘBall off his hands. He and the rest of his
friends started chasing after THEIR PokΘBalls.
Soon after, when all the rest of the passengers were off the
ship in lifeboats, a gigantic wave crashed against the ship,
turning it over, and knocking Jesse, James, Ash, Misty, Pikachu
and Brock unconscious. The show ends with a scene of the ship
sinking into the sea, with Team Rocket and the others unconscious
lying in the ship.
Now you may be wondering WHY would Nintendo play Episode
15 on what should have been the show's launch date? Well, at
the end, the narrator said that the next day's show will take
us back to the beginning to find out how the whole thing began.
Big relief for me! But still, some may still be wondering why
they started with Episode 15? Well, you see, Nintendo
was trying to get people to watch it by showing a groovy episode
with a what's next? ending. So they sortov got us watching for
3 weeks, and by the time we find out what happens to Ash and the
others on the ship, we're fans of the show already. That's MY
philosphy. You're welcome to think freely.
