You tend to forget one thing about democracies- that you are able to
criticize them! Other systems tend to just blow your brains out, or
have you rot in a damp cell for 20 years for saying what you've just
said!
And there's the one Peru (I think it was) did for several years, just
took all the people outspoken against the regime up in large planes,
and drop them far out to sea, from 10,000 feet!!! And people never saw
them again.

Democracies aren't perfect by a long shot, but what else are you going
to put in place instead? You have to keep working at them to keep them
as honest as possible, or they just degrade into dictatorships, or
what's happening at the moment, being screwed over, and controlled by
Multi-Nationals! (We just had the APEC bullshit over here!)
