What can be said about Aminet CDs that hasn't been said already? They contain masses of freely available software, and they're much cheaper and quicker (alright, just quicker if you have 0800 'net access) than the online version.
But the offline version of Aminet doesn't just come on single discs. No sir.
Aminet Sets contain a multitude of shiny platters stuffed full of free software - four of them, to be precise. The latest set, number 9, still boasts the user-friendliness of the single entities, but with four times the software. So, that'll set you back four times the price of a single disc, right? Wrong! Single disc, under £8 - four of them, just over £18 (which works out at under a fiver per CD).
Aminet 36 contains 780MB of new stuff since Aminet 35, and 380MB of files that you won't see on Set 9, which is split into four categories (Tools, Graphics, Fun and Mods, one on each disc). Set 9, however, contains 3GB of files along with a handful of bonuses such as GoldEd 4.8.0, Digital Almanac II Special Edition, Marbelous II and AmiAtlas 4. Altogether a bumper bargain collection!
