3.2.2 Configuring your Thomson Gateway

Introduction

If you configured your Thomson Gateway using the Installation guidée, the telephony service will already be configured by the Assistant d’installation.

If you choose to configure your Thomson Gateway manually or you still need to configure the telephony service, you can follow the procedure below.

Procedure

Proceed as follows:

Configure the Telephony Service

Your Internet connection must be up and running before you can configure Internet telephony.

Enable the Telephony Service

To enable the telephony service:

Browse to the Thomson Gateway.

On the Toolbox menu, click Telephony.

In the Barre de navigation, click Configure.

Select Service Enabled.

Click Apply.

Assign Phone Numbers

To configure your Internet SIP telephone numbers:

Browse to the Thomson Gateway.

On the Toolbox menu, click Telephony.

In the Barre de navigation, click Configure. Assign phone numbers to the ports. If you want to use the same number for all ports, select Port ‘All’.

The phone numbers are provided by your provider.

Click Apply.

Configure the Telephony Service

Proceed as follows to configure the telephony service:

Browse to the Thomson Gateway.

On the Toolbox menu, click Telephony.

In the Barre de navigation, click Expert configure.

Enter the IP address and the port number of the registrar, and the proxy, as provided by your ISP:

Click Apply.

Verifying Telephone Connectivity

Proceed as follows to verify the voice connection:

Make sure the Thomson Gateway is turned on and ready for service.

Check whether your phone is properly attached to the Thomson Gateway.

Make sure the Internet telephony service is enabled and configured.

The Voice LED must be solid green.

Pick up your phone, wait for the dialling tone, and dial the number. If you dial a ‘’ after the phone number, the phone number will be called instantly.

The phone(s) attached to the Thomson Gateway can receive incoming VoIP calls, as long as your Thomson Gateway is turned on and the Voice LED is lit.

For calls over the analogue phone line, your phones are line-powered by the telephone company and can therefore always be reached, even if the Thomson Gateway is turned off.
