STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RETRIEVE AN IMAGE INTO YOUR WORD PROCESSOR
There are different ways to get the alphabets and clip art into your word processor or desktop publishing program. Following are some examples:
1. For most programs, you will select File-Open or Insert-Picture-From File to retrieve an image. Select the best option for your program and browse to the location of the file you want. For example, to pull a clip art image from the Creative Lettering CD and place it on your document page, place the cursor where you want the image to appear. Go to Insert-Picture-From File (or File-Open), and select your CD drive. Double-click the Images folder, then the category folder you want, then the image file name. This will place the image on your document page at the cursor location.
2. Locate the Images folder and the image file you want to use, and double-click on the image file. Depending on how your system is set up, it will either launch the appropriate application and open the image, or you will be prompted to select an application with which to open the image.
SIZING AN IMAGE - In most programs, after you open or paste an image to the page, editing tabs will appear surrounding the image. If not, click once on the image to select it, and the editing tabs will appear. Use your mouse to drag the tabs up or down to size. Drag from the corner tabs to keep the image size proportional. Use the middle or side tabs to stretch the image out of shape.
MOVING AN IMAGE - Usually you can move an image simply by selecting it, placing your mouse inside the image, and dragging it to the desired location. In some programs you can move an image by right-clicking on it and changing the position properties by typing in an exact measurement. Some others require you to first place the cursor in the desired location, then drag the image to the cursor.
PRINTING AN IMAGE - To print an image, follow the same steps that you would to print any other document. If you are printing a color image and have a black and white printer, it will print the colors in shades of gray. If you have a color printer and the document does not print in color, check the settings when the print dialog box appears. Make sure the Color Printing option is selected.
COPYING AND PASTING
To copy an image from one application to another, select the image you wish to copy and select Edit, Copy (or hold down the Apple key and press C while the image is selected).
In most programs, you can paste the copied image to a document by clicking on Edit, Paste. In some programs, you may need to select Edit, Paste Special (or hold down the Apple key and press V). The size and relative location of the image are determined by the program you are pasting the image into.
