Welcome to ISCNI, the Institute for the Study of Contact with Non-human Intelligence. ISCNI's Home Page is designed to introduce you to the Institute, and to the newly defined interdisciplinary research subject known as "CNI" or Contact with Non-human Intelligence. ISCNI addresses the subject of CNI in four primary categories...

UFOS and ALIEN CONTACT

Close encounters with unidentified flying objects (some seen on the ground), and claims of contact with "alien" beings, are among the most widely reported anomalous phenomena in the world today. Reports are global and often include physical evidence. The study of UFOs is hampered by alleged official ("government") cover-up of known data, while the "strangeness" of many reports defies scientific analysis. The "E.T. Hypothesis" might not work; but neither does "just errors, lies and illusions."

ANGELS AND ASSOCIATED PHENOMENA

From deep antiquity to the present, the world over, people have reported encounters with beings considered messengers or agents of God. Commonly called angels in the West and devas in the East, they are said to be glorious yet fallible, and in fallen form are seen as demons. Related lesser beings may include a host of nature spirits and "little people." Two-thirds of U.S. adults say they believe angels are real; 30% claim an angelic encounter.

NON-HUMAN INTELLIGENT EARTH SPECIES

Among earth creatures, dolphins have brain complexity easily rivaling that of humans and no doubt communicate among themselves. Thirty years of research has produced little progress in human-dolphin communication, but efforts continue. Meanwhile, chimps and gorillas have shown language ability similar to a three year old human, and though physiologically unable to talk, can converse in American Sign Language.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Many experts believe that truly intelligent, self-referencing or "self-conscious" machines are not far off. Science fiction scenarios of machine intelligence run the gamut from sublime to horrifying. A key question: if a super-mind is equipped with super senses, strength and mobility (available now), will it respect human life? Recent breakthroughs in massive parallel processing suggest we might find out soon.
