A Resource About Prostate Enlargement
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The prostate is an organ of great concern to men, and 3 out of 4 men over
the age of 50 have some symptoms of prostate enlargement. An estimated 1 in
11 men will develop prostate cancer. Contrasting to many of you who write and
ask, many men don't know how to recognize the symptoms, and run the risk of
advancing disease. To help recognize the early warning signs, a simple set of
self test questions for men, "Questions to Ask Yourself About Prostate
Problems", has been developed. These ten questions can help determine if a
man should seek medical help. A second set, "Questions to Ask Your Doctor
About Prostate Problems", will help guide a patient through his first medical
visit. This free information, as well as other booklets on prostate cancer
diagnosis, treatments and side effects, are available by writing or calling
the Educational Services Division of American Medical Systems: Prostate
Information, P.O.Box 9, Minneapolis, MN 55440. Telephone number to call is
1-800-543-9632. If you choose to write, you will NOT need a stamped self
addressed envelope to obtain this important informational sheets.
