  2. Heliotropism (1994). There are two curious facts about Vermeer. We are
  3. almost sure that he used the camera obscura, thus explaining the uncommon 
  4. and unsettling " photographic " point of view of some of his paintings. 
  5. It is also well established that the characters, the clothes, the furniture, 
  6. the lighting, repeat themselves from one painting to another. I wanted, in a 
  7. silly way, to steal some of Vermeer's spirit by stealing some of his 
  8. favorite " objects ", just like a rock fan would tear a piece of his/her 
  9. idol's shirt. I stole the point of view, the bare wall, the pot, 
  10. the stained-glass windows, the lighting, the tiled floor. I added my own 
  11. strange contribution, this light-hungry, chained, out-of-place, spiked 
  12. bronze mace.
