Well, here's something nobody else has thought of writing!
I have always thought of writing a program that would automate Phil Katz's
PKXARC.COM and PKARC.COM so that I could save a few bytes on my hard drive.
Honestly, I did not think that this type of program would REALLY make a dif-
ferance in the amount of availble space on my drive, but when I first ran it,
to my amazement, I saved OVER ONE MEG of disk space (I processed about 100
files). So... I though why not make it available to others to see what they
think of the idea... so... here it is... after one afternoon in front of my
little Tandy!
WARNING!:
DO NOT RUN THIS PROGRAM TILL YOU HAVE 'TESTED' IT, AS ONCE IT GETS GOING, THE
ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO REBOOT! (unless it's processed all the .ARCs in the
specified directory of course...)
SYNTAX:
CRUNCH [/crunching options] [\directory to be processed] [-a (optional alarm]
(same as PKARC.COM's)
NOTES:
This program is only AN EXTENTION of PKXARC.COM and PKARC.COM... they MUST be
within the directory in which CRUNCH.EXE resides.
If no parameters are specified, CRUNCH will assume the present directory and
process ALL .ARC files within the directory.
REALIZE: this program will AUOTOMATICALLY create a directory \TEMP for the
archives to be processed in. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THIS DIRECTORY, COPY ALL
FILES WITHIN THAT DIRECTORY TO ANOTHER, AS THIS PROGRAM WILL DELETE ALL FILES
IN THE \TEMP DIRECTORY TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE ARCHIVES! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
