OVERVIEW:
Bilink is a doorway program that allows RBBS-PC systems to add
Bimodem as an external file transfer protocol as a door on the
bulletin board.
Bimodem is an outstanding bidirectional file tranfer protocol with
speeds that rival those of Z-Modem but, with simultaneous uploading
and downloading of files. This great protocol will also allow a user
to "chat" while transfers are taking place.
Bilink has been written for ease-of-use for both the callers and for
the SYSOP. Files can be specified either through the Bimodem program
or through a "create transfer list" routine that is unique to Bilink.
Once the files have been transfered the caller can return to the Bilink
Menu or be automatically logged-off the BBS while all RBBS-PC files are
updated with the file transfer statistics.
FEATURES:
* Easy to Install on RBBS-PC.
* Com 1 - 4 support.
* Configured for multiple node operation.
* Callers can specify files to be transfered from
within the Bilink program. No other Bimodem
interface program allows this.
* Automatic log-off when transfers are complete or
return to board.
* Updates all RBBS-PC Users and Callers files with
file transfer statistics.
* Monitors carrier and re-starts RBBS if carrier is
lost.

INSTALLATION - CONFIGURING RBBS-PC:
3.) If your RBBS is currently set-up to run "Doors" you may skip this
step and continue the installation with step #4.
Run the RBBS-PC utility program "CONFIG". If you are running
version CP17.2A or B use the <F6> key to bring up the configuration
screen for door programs.
Complete the RBBS-PC configuration questions 101-109. Question
#102 should list the complete path/name of "MENU5". This file was
sent as a sample in the BILINK package and is the menu screen for
door programs.
Question #109 should list the complete path/name of "DOORS.DEF".
This file was also sent as a sample in the BILINK package and is
a control file for door programs.
4.) If you are using any of the sample RBBS files included with BILINK,
move the following files to the main RBBS-PC subdirectory:
* 1.BAT
* DOORS.DEF
* MENU5
* BIDOOR.DEF
- 7 -
If you are not going to use the sample RBBS files, simply delete
them. Be sure your own files pass the same information in the
same order as 1.BAT, DOORS.DEF, and BIDOOR.DEF.
SYNTAX for BILINK: BILINK node
A.) 1.BAT - EXAMPLE:
@echo off
cd \rbbs\doors\bimod
bilink %1
cd \rbbs
rbbs
The Batch file that runs BILINK should pass the NODE as
the only parameter. Note that a slash or dash is NOT to
be used before this parameter.
B.) DOORS.DEF - EXAMPLE:
1,20,c:\rbbs\bidoor.def,d,"1.bat [NODE]",N,,{TR
This file is the control file for door programs used
by RBBS and is the file designated in RBBS CONFIG
question #109. If you are already running doors on
your BBS you can simply add the above line to your
DOOR.DEF file. The important parameters that need to
be passed are [NODE] and {TR. All commas are significant.
C.) BIDOOR.DEF - EXAMPLE:
c:\rbbs\doors\bimod\bilink.dat,20

INSTALLATION - BIMODEM CONFIGURATION:
5.) Get the latest copy of BIMODEM and install it according to the
BIMODEM directions in the BILINK directory.
The following BIMODEM files are all that are needed:
* BIMODEM.COM
* BIMODEM.CFG
* BIPATH.COM
* BIBAT.COM
* BICONFIG.COM
* BIMENU.COM
* BISETUP.COM
6.) Configure BIMODEM to suit your needs; however, be sure to leave
the log file name blank and answer NO to both log file questions.
7.) Use the name BILIST for the file that contains the list of all
download directory path names.
- 9 -
INSTALLATION - BIMODEM CONFIGURATION (CONT):
8.) Create an ASCII text file called BILIST and enter all download
directory drive:\paths in this file. End each path with a "\"
and each line should end with a <CR> <LF> sequence.
EXAMPLE:
c:\rbbs\1\
c:\rbbs\2\
c:\rbbs\3\
c:\rbbs\4\
c:\rbbs\5\
c:\rbbs\6\
c:\rbbs\7\
c:\rbbs\new\
This is the list BIMODEM and BILINK will use to search for
download requests.
USING BILINK:
Callers who wish to use the BIMODEM file transfer protocol select
the BILINK door from MENU5 or from your own RBBS door menu. The
node is passed to the BILINK program and RBBS handles the callers time
in the doorway.
The BILINK program gets certain operating information from the RBBS
system files, and caller information from the DORINFO#.DEF file that
RBBS produces. Callers will need ANSI to use the BILINK program since
it uses "escape" sequences for the display.
When the BILINK program starts, the caller is presented with a menu
with the following selections:
* (B)imodem File Transfer - Used to start the BIMODEM transfer
after files have been specified.
This selection will return the
caller to the menu after the
transfer is complete.
- 10 -
USING BILINK (CONT):
* (T)ranfer and Log Off - Used to start the BIMODEM transfer
after files have been specified.
This selection will log the caller
off after the transfer is complete.
The log-off count down can be
cancelled by the caller or the SYSOP.
* (C)reate Transfer List - Used to create a transfer list of
files for uploading or downloading.
The caller can enter filenames to
download and/or complete path names
of upload files. For uploads, the
caller is also prompted for upload
file descriptions. After files have
been designated the caller is returned
to the main BILINK menu to begin the
transfer.
* (Q)uit Back to BBS - Used to return to the main BBS
program.
Upon completion of the BIMODEM transfer, BILINK will update all RBBS
system files for number of uploads, downloads, and bytes transferred.
It will also update the upload file list with any upload file descipt-
ions and will place uploads in the upload directory.
BILINK ERROR MESSAGES:
BILINK will create an error file called BILINK.ERR in the event of any
file errors. Please report the contents of this file to MW Systems, Inc.
Most non-critical errors will allow the caller to continue with the file
transfer after first acknowledging with a key-press. Critical errors
will simply abort the BILINK program and return the caller to RBBS.
