SCRAMPREP
SCRAMPREP is a user friendly utility for partitioning SCSI hard drives.
It has an automatic mode which divides the disk into equal size
partitions and sets up the RDBs. As well you can partition, prep,
low-level format, and verify manually. I think you will find this
utility useful and easy to use. One caution - SCRAMPREP does not
AmigaFormat the partitions. After using SCRAMPREP you must reboot (to
have the RDB read) and then Format each partition.
Note that when writing RBD info to a boot partition SCRAMPREP will look
for FastFileSystem in l: - so put later versions here if you like.
FastFileSystem is built into WB 2.
ScramAutoMount
This program can be run from the Startup-Sequence and will mount a
PREPed Hard Drive (with RDB) avoiding the need for a MountList entry.
This is for people with KickStart 1.2 or who for some other reason want
to use a .device driver from the devs: directory. If you have KickStart
1.2, why don't you upgrade so you have AutoBoot?
DRIVERS
There are 4 drivers supplied on this disk. The .bin files are binaries
for ROMing. The .device files are for use with a mountlist - where they
must be called SCRAM8.device.
SCRAM_8.bin standard driver for ROMing
SCRAM_8.device standard driver for devs:
SCRAM_8_movep.bin faster driver for ROMing using optimized transfer
SCRAM_8_movep.device faster driver for devs:
The reason for including both versions is because that the faster
version MAY exhibit data errors when used with a noisy cable on very
fast SCSI drives. If you think you are having cable problems, try the
slow version (turn AutoBoot switch off copy it to devs:). Typical
diskspeeds for a Quantum are 460K B/s v. 540K B/s for the two drivers.
SCRAM_8 currently supports removeable media, SCSI direct, and some SCSI
CD ROM drives (tested with Toshiba). Coming soon is Floptical support
and AMAX support.
