  28. 1. INTRODUCTION

  32. Already two years have passed by since the "Error In Line '99" took
  33. place. Now after those two years of recreationtime we are glad to invite
  34. you to the "ERROR IN LINE #2" convention.
  35. With new motivation and from what we learned from "Error In Line '99" we
  36. hope to be able to offer you a convention full of fun, creativity and
  37. interesting experiences.
  38.  
  39. The convention will be open for all fans of alternative systems, such as
  40. Atari, Unix, Acorn, Amiga, C64. As usual, the convention will take place at
  41. Easter (13.-16.April 2001) in Dresden, Germany.
  42.  
  43. Following feedback of several "Error In Line '99"-visitors there weren't
  44. many complaints about the partyplace, date, competitions and services.
  45. So generally the convention will take place in a similiar style, but we
  46. have added some more services and competitions for some more pleasure.
  47.  
  48. We will try our best to arrange a great Easter convention and hope to see you
  49. next Easter in Dresden - back to the underground.

  73. The party will be located in a club namend "GAG18" near the city center of
  74. Dresden. The railway station, tram, bus, mcdonalds and the city center are
  75. easily reachable by foot.

  90. How to get to the Partyplace..
  91.  
  92.   By Car:
  93.  
  94.    There are 2 possibilities to go by car, depending on where you come from:
  95.  
  96.    (1) If you are driving to Dresden on the A4 from "Eisenach" then leave
  97.        the motorway at the exit called "Dresden-Altstadt." After that,
  98.        keep on following the traffic signs that direct to "Prag/Praha."
  99.        Drive on like this for a while as long as you are driving on a street
  100.        called "Nuernberger EI." This is a big 4-track street which is partly
  101.        divided by a big green isle. Keep on going straight on until you reach
  102.        the first traffic light after the green isle. Now turn left at the
  103.        crossroad and drive down a little hill. Now you should see an old
  104.        Russian Church on the right side. When you have passed this Church
  105.        turn left. Now you should be driving on the "Reichenbachstrasse".
  106.        Turn right into the next street and look for a parking place. You
  107.        are here.
  108.  
  109.    (2) If you are driving to Dresden on the A4 from "Bautzen" then leave
  110.        the motorway at the exit "Dresden-Hellerau." Then turn right and
  111.        keep on going straigth on until you reach the railwaystation called
  112.        "Bahnhof Dresden-Neustadt." This is not the main railwaystation of
  113.        Dresden, so take care you don't get confused. Anyway, drive through
  114.        under the railway and then turn to the right.
  115.        Now you can go straight forward again. You will drive over a big
  116.        bridge and after some minutes of driving, you will reach the central
  117.        station of Dresden (Dresden Hauptbahnhof) on the right. 
  118.        Turn right at the next crossroad and drive through under the station.
  119.        You have been driving the right way when you do see a "Conrad Elec-
  120.        tronics" shop on the right side. Turn right into the next smaller
  121.        street and then turn left again at the next crossroad.
  122.        Ok, only ca. 200 meters to go straight on now. You are here.

  124.    If you are in the area around the partyplace, please park your car some-
  125.    where and then we will show you a good parking place. But please do not
  126.    drive over meadows, don't drive through restricted areas and don't re-
  127.    move any posts!    (hey tSCc & Fun, did you read carefully?)

  131.   By Train:
  132.  
  133.    Reaching the partyplace if you arrive by train is an easy task. Just leave
  134.    the railway station (Hauptbahnhof!) through the Maindoors and turn right.
  135.    Now keep on going straight forward. You will walk through under a bridge,
  136.    cross a street and you will stand in front of the "Conrad Electronics" -
  137.    building. Keep on walking straight on (on its left side) and you will see
  138.    a big and green meadow. After ca. 150 meters you should have reached a bigger
  139.    building with two yellow phoneboxes in front of it. Now just enter the
  140.    door with the "GAG 18" - sign. You are here.

  144.   By Plane:
  145.  
  146.    If you are going by plane to Dresden, you will arrive at the airport
  147.    Dresden-Klotzsche. From there, some shuttlebus is driving to the central
  148.    railwaystation of Dresden. If you are there you can just follow the way
  149.    described in the "coming by train" part.
  150.    Anyway, if this is too complicated for you then contact us as early as
  151.    possible, so we can take you from the airport to the partyplace by car.

  168. 4. THE PARTY

  171. The location is big enough for 100-150 computerfreaks from many different
  172. countries. The partyplace is comfortable and features a sleeping room, a
  173. bar with fair prices, WCs, showers and is divided in a smoker and a non-
  174. smoker area.
  175.  
  176. For the entertainment side you can expect:
  177.  
  178.  - the big screen for demo-watching/gaming pleasures
  179.  - numerous competitions and prizes
  180.  - an internetroom (Linux network)
  181.  - a realtime article
  182.  - the possibility to play Dart
  183.  - the possibility to play Volleyball                                     
  184.  - pizzaservice and other foodservices
  185.  - the central situation of the location
  186.  - a parking area nearby
  187.  - shops near the party place
  188.  - the opportunity to come even earlier and  have a look at Dresden for some 
  189.    days. But therefore you have to tell us early, so we can try to organize
  190.    some place for you.

  193. The entrance fee for all 4 days is 30 DM (15 Euro)
  194. The entrance fee for only 1 day is 10 DM ( 5 Euro)

  196. Still the room is limited, since the computerequipment is taking a lot of
  197. space. In other words we can not gurantee place for everybody, as long as
  198. you are not registered. So please register and make sure you get space for
  199. you and your equipment. The registering fee is 25 DM (12.5 euro).

  214. 5. THE COMPETITIONS

  218. The competitions will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Since we want to
  219. avoid problems or crashes during the presentation we will record your
  220. entries on a videotape. You can sit next to us when we record your entry,
  221. so everything does work out as it should in the final presentation.

  223. You can run your entries on our hardware:

  225.  - Atari Falcon 030    16 Mhz, FPU, 4 or 14 MB RAM
  226.  - Atari 1040 STf       8 Mhz, TOS 1.04,  1 MB RAM
  227.  - Atari 1040 STe       8 Mhz, TOS 2.06,  4 MB RAM

  229. or on your own one (including accerlators, memory extensions etc.). We will
  230. announce the specifications of the used hardware during the presentation.

  234.  - FALCON 030 DEMO COMPETITION
  235.    The maximal size is 6 Megabytes.

  237.  - ATARI ST DEMO COMPETITION
  238.    The maximal size is 2 DD disks.

  240.  - ATARI 8-BIT DEMO COMPETITION
  241.    The required hardware to run the demo has to be provided.
  242.    
  243.  - INTRO COMPETITION
  244.    The maximal size is 98304 bytes. All avaiable systems are welcome.

  246.  - 4 KILOBYTE INTRO COMPETITION
  247.    The max. size is 4096 bytes. All available systems are allowed.
  248.  
  249.  - 128 BYTE INTRO COMPETITION
  250.    The max. filesize is 160 bytes including the header. All systems.

  252.  - WHIP! - MODULE COMPETITION 
  253.    The music for the presentation can be chosen by the coder.

  255.  - TRUECOLOR GRAPHICS COMPETITION
  256.    The name of the software and hardware that has been used to create the 
  257.    pictures will be displayed. The entries have to be in a standart format,
  258.    such as GIF, JPEG or TGA.
  259.  
  260.  - 16 COLORS GRAPHICS COMPETITION
  261.    The maximum number of colors used has to be 16. (gosh!:)
  262.    The name of the software and hardware that has been used to create the
  263.    pictures will be displayed. The entries have to be in a standart format
  264.    such as GIF, PC1 or PI1.
  265.  
  266.  - 4 COLORS GRAPHICS COMPETITION
  267.    The graphics can be painted on any system and have to use 4 colors or
  268.    less. The pictures should either be in standart formats or you should
  269.    give us a viewer.

  271.  - MULTICHANNEL MUSIC COMPETITION
  272.    The musics will be played in every avaiable player and should not
  273.    exceed a filesize of 1.4 MB. We will display the replayprogram on the
  274.    bigscreen during the competition.
  275.      
  276.  - 4 CHANNEL MUSIC COMPETITION
  277.    The musics have to be in Protracker format and the allowed filesize is
  278.     1.4 MB. Protracker will be displayed on the bigscreen while playing.
  279.  
  280.  - YM-SOUNDCHIP MUSIC COMPETITION
  281.    The songs will be replayed on an Atari ST. You have to give us the
  282.    necessary software for replay.
  283.    
  284.  - POKEY-SOUNDCHIP MUSIC COMPETITION
  285.    You have to provide the required hardware and software.
  286.  
  287.  - GAMING COMPETITION

  289.  - FAKE DEMO COMPETITION
  290.    The entries have to run on one of the available systems.

  307.  - The entries have to be delievered on DD or HD-formatted disks.

  309.  - In case of too many entries we may preselect.
  310.  
  311.  - Entries with racialhostile or pornographic contents will be disqualified.

  313.  - The entries have to compete.

  315.  - We will announce the hardwarespecifications used for the presentation.

  317.  - If there is a high request for other competitions, we may add them.
  318.  
  319.  - The visitors can vote for their favourite contibutions.

  321.  - Everyone who has paid the entrance fee can win prizes for his entries.

  323.  - We will publish all entries after the party.

  333. 6. GENERAL RULES:

  337. 1. Drinking is allowed as far nobody and nothing else suffers under that.

  339. 2. Smoking is allowed in the smoker areas ONLY.

  341. 3. Every visitor is responsible for his equiqment.

  343. 4. Microwaves are not allowed.

  345. 5. Copying pirate software is not allowed, as well.

  347. 6. Please keep the toilets and showers clean.

  349. 7. Follow the organizers requests.

  351. 8. All damage has to be paid by the person who caused it.
