You are free to distribute version 1.0 of Audio-Bass as long as this
document file and the program remain in their original state and are kept
together. If you find this program useful and frequently use it, we would
both benefit if you were to register. To do so, send £5 and a postcard

ENGLAND
Registered users benefit in all of the usual ways:
o You will get a free copy of V2.0 which will be out as soon as possible.
It will include features such as more precise searches, maybe more
sections to each record, loads of user definable preferences,
importing facilities, also record printing etc...
o You get full user support.
o Full printed documentation.
o Any suggestions and/or criticism that you tell me about will be catered
for, as I will do my best to include them in updates or I will create a
special version!
etc...etc...etc...The list is endless...
**INTRODUCTION**
Basically, this is a program which stores all of your songs by various
artists in a data file enabling you to flick through them or carry out a
search at any point in time etc...
I decided to write it because I was getting fed up with the number of
times that I have wanted to listen to a particular song and have had to
look through all of my tapes, cds and records to try and find it. Now, I
just type in the name of the song and up comes the information telling
me exactly where it is, who it's by and on which format it is!
**STARTUP**
First of all, if you are not using a hard disk, install a ramdisk. This
is because the program reads all of the data from disk and a ramdisk is
obviously a lot faster than a conventional floppy. This may seem stupid
but I think I have suffered enough from when the machine crashes or there
is a power-cut and a whole hours worth of work 'dissapears'. So, to
overcome that, the most data that can be lost is 1 record!
(I will probably get rid of the need for a ram disk in V2.0)
Load the program by double clicking on AUDIOBAS.PRG. After the
registration message, the menu screen appears - you are in!
**QUICK TOUR**
The best way to learn how to use Audio-Bass is to just play around, as
the whole program is fairly self explanatory. But, just in case, there's a
Quick Tour below.
Go into the file menu and click on CREATE A NEW FILE. When the file
selector appears, type in the name of your new file with the extension
JPT. After that, click on ADD A RECORD which is in the records menu. You
will be confronted with a box which asks you about the song you wish to
enter. The only 'strange' part is the FORM.? This is the format. If the
song is on tape, type in tape etc. All entries apart from the format can
stretch to 40 characters long. The format can only take 10.
Viewing records is simple, just click on VIEW RECORDS in the records menu
and use N to move to the next record, P to go back one and X to exit.
To edit, select EDIT RECORDS from the records menu. Flick through then
records until you get to the one you wish to edit. Press E and then re-
type the record.
CARRY OUT A SEARCH can be found in the search menu. Type in what you wish
to search for followed by return and the computer will look through your
file and stop when it finds a matching entry. To carry on, press any key.
That just about covers most of the useful functions without going into
too much detail. Further assistance is available to all registered users.
ENJOY YOURSELF!
I will not be held responsible for any damage caused due to use/missuse
of Audio-Bass.
