REDLiTE speaks a load of old cods wallop(?!)...
(Version V2 The Fried Bits Edit)
* Whats the Fried Bits Edit I here you cry!?!, well as this doc is of the
* boring kind (Stop reading now...), I thought that as I had a bit of time
* on my hands at the party in Bremen I would spell check(?), and add some
* extra borring lines of twaty chat to what I already had.... so if you
* have a life leave this doc file now!!......
Hum what should I speak about now, there are to many subjects that have been
covered, so many times in so many disks mags (ie: The Falcon debate, The
scene dying Etc etc...) arr-ha I have an idea what about a round of what
happened at the 7th International Computer Show in London.
Well the date now jumps back to the 19th of February 1993, the scene is
My bedroom...
Its was getting late and Drus and me were trying to get our 'Believe
the Music' demo finished for release at the show the next day, anyway
time went by, actually alot of time when by, but the demo was finally
was finished at some early hour of the morning.... So Drus and me
grabbed a few hours of sleep as we were getting picked up at 8.30am by
Dave a STe owning nobody, anyway we woke, washed, ate and dived into
Dave's mark II Escort (In true Essex boy racer style).
The train station was about 9 miles away, so away we went with a large
amount of pace. All went well until we arrived at the station Car park,
where Dave decided he was going to show off his driving talents by Hand
braking the car into a Parking space. Well lets just say we did not make
it. The car turned 90 degrees and then we hit a massive earth bank (Nice
one Dave!), So we all jumped out and pulled the car out of the bank!, we
then parked and went to get the train, which was dew at 9.20am.
At the platform we meet Lister, a good friend and we all waited for the
train, and we waited... and we waited... the time had now reached
9.30am, so I asked a ticket officer when the train was dew..... he
replied...
'Oh sorry Mate the 9.20 train was cancelled the next is at 9.50am...'
Was anything meant to go right for us... As I was meant to be meeting
Powa + Fracta of the Mega four at Wembley Park Station at 11.00am.
Anyway we all got the Train, and as the last train was cancelled this
one was packed... we had to stand for one and a bit hours on the
train... Which was very boring not to mension hard on the old legs....
Anyway We arrived at Liverpool Street Station at about 10.55 and I had
to meet TM4 at 11.00, I had no chance, Well the other three lads where
starving so they left me and when to Casey Jones for breakfast so I when
on alone.
When I finally arrived at the Station (after spending some time looking
for the right platform at liverpool station) there was no sign of Powa
and Fracta anywhere... So I rushed off down to the Show to see if I
could meet them there.
The first place I looked was in the Bar (?!), there was no sign of them
there, there were only a couple of old Automation members drinking there
pints in skin tight t-shirst that looked 3 years old!. I moved on
through the crowds, then as I was walking round I noticed a face I
recognised.... Yes I knew that look at the perpetual Dawn demo earlier
that morning would pay off, as I had noticed Tat of Chaos, and with him
was Fracta of TM4.... So I approached them and we got chatting, it
turns out that Powa was at the station and still was there (opps),
Well we moved around the packed show, looking at various bits and bobs
and waited for Powa and Drus to show up..
Combo had a large stand dedicated to the FALCON, Which is were Powa
finally meet up with us, but I still had not seen Drus and my other
mates. Anyway we spent some time at the combo stand looking at the
falcon, but as the stand was crowded the only Falcon we could see was
running Windows 3.1.
As we slowly moved around the show, I noticed Drus walking towards us
and finally we were back together.... well this text must be boring you
senseless so far!!??.
Ok, well the show was a bit boring, but the FALCON dominated the show
completely, I did not see one A1200 running.... The only A1200 I did see
had been bought by some twat... and he then proceeded to place the box
in a pool of sick in the restuarant... Just shows the average
intelligence of an Amiga owner... Ok I should really talk about the
Falcon for a bit. Well in a word the machine is Amazing. At the show
they were showing off a demo of the falcon emulating MODE7 off the Super
Nes.... This was just a little bit nice(!!), This machine is going to
beat the A1200 to with in a inch of its life (As my dad would say!?),
and if all the people who say they are going to by a falcon, do then
this machine is going to have a great future.
Ok on with the show type bit......
Right, by this time we had tried to show off are new demo, but with no
luck as all the ST's were using Mono monitors. So we headed to the ST
user stand, were we meet a very nice man, who let us use his 4Meg mega
STe.... thing is STOS dont work on 4Meg STs.... But anyway the new Chaos
demo was but on and every one was most impressed... (Slurp slurp!!), We
also managed to off load two copies of our demo... one to ST user for
review and one to a small crew Called M.L.P who where watching at the
stand.
You can not still be reading this!?, you must be a social reject with no
life!?..... go away and live?!.....
Well to cut along (boring) story short, also at the St user stand, Powa
noticed Griff of E.I, So we all moved over to the Falcon stand, where
Griff should us all his Falcon protracker replay, which was turned off
as soon as it went on by some big fat German... But what I saw of it was
very nice. He also tried to get our demo running on the falcon, but with
no luck?.
We stayed at the show until closing time, which was a good move as most
people had gone home which ment we could look around a bit more...
anyway we left at about 6.30pm and all got a tube back to liverpool
Street station where we all went for some grub at casey jones....
God is it worth continuing!... Well the show was ok and we meet a load
of bods.... But we had been told that a load more people were going....?
were they?. ok just before I go and spent 3 hours spell checking this
doc, oh and by the way if there are any mistakes its not my fault, I
dont know whos fault it is but I will think of someone....
Just before I go I would like to send a small message to the guys
from automation who were at the show if they are reading this:
1. Get some new t-shirts and may be a couple of sizes bigger!.
2. Do you work in the newsagents, down St johns St in colchester?.
So this is goodnight from him and a goodnight from Me.... thats Dan of
that most unknown of Crews REDLiTE or should that be BEDLICE.....
Ps... Look out for DBA mag #8 for a real-timr party article from Bremen
