  1. Icon Extractor Help

  3. Icon Extractor makes it possible to extract the icons (or other images) from any
  4. file. Once the icons have been extracted they are shown in the Icon Extractor
  5. window. Then they can be saved as separate iconfiles, bitmap files or copied to
  6. the Windows clipboard to be pasted into any document that will accept images.

  8. Icon Extractor is drag and drop enabled. A file can either be opened manually
  9. from the Icon Extractor File Menu or the Open File button, or it can simply be
  10. dragged and dropped from the Windows Explorer onto Icon Extractor. Any number of
  11. files can be opened simultaneously in Icon Extractor. The icons from each file
  12. are displayed in a separate window within the Icon Extractor application
  13. interface.

  15. How to use Icon Extractor:

  17. After opening Icon Extractor simply select "Open a File for Image Extraction"
  18. from the File menu and use the OpenFile dialog to select the file containing
  19. icons. Multiple image files (bitmap or icon files) can be opened by selecting
  20. the "Open Multiple Image Files" selection on the File menu. These functions can
  21. also be accomplished by clicking on the one of the Open File buttons in the Icon
  22. Extractor button bar.

  24. Since Icon Extractor is drag and drop enabled, a file (only one at a time) can
  25. also be dragged from the Windows Explorer and dropped onto Icon Extractor.

  27. Once a file's icons are displayed in an Icon Extractor window, individual icons
  28. can be saved as bitmap files, icon files or copied to the Windows clipboard. Use
  29. the mouse to select the icon. Then, right-click on the selected icon. Use the
  30. menu that pops up to save or copy the icon. The right-click menu functions have
  31. hotkeys associated with them. These hot keys are displayed in the menu.

  33. Window management within Icon Extractor is the same as other Windows MDI
  34. (Multiple Document Interface) applications by using the Window Menu or the
  35. Window button on the button bar.
