  25. Description of Working Group:

  27. In building a bridge between the Internet Engineering community and the
  28. Humanities and Arts' Research and Engineering communities, the HARTS
  29. Working Group has identified three goals to be pursued. The first goal
  30. is development of a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) regarding value
  31. and role of the arts in the Internet. Tasks for this include
  32. development of a document summarizing current issues regarding the arts
  33. community Internet with an accompanying survey designed to identify
  34. needs and concerns from the arts and humanities community. Survey
  35. results will be used to develop the FAQ.
  36.  
  37. The second goal is to define tools for artists' organizations on the
  38. Internet which will focus on creating, viewing, and storage formats for
  39. arts humanities resources. This will include contributions regarding
  40. text, sound, still and motion images. It will address different
  41. operating systems, glossary of basic terminology and a bibliography.
  42. The third goal is to further define issues surrounding copyright and
  43. intellectual property, funding, and other support for arts humanities
  44. participation and any other needs identified by the survey.

  48.    Jul 95       Prepare outline and draft summary of document and survey for 
  49.                 the FAQ, as well as securing a site and pointers to manage the 
  50.                 survey process.

  52.    Jul 95       Review final FAQ and HARTS-Tools document and submit for 
  53.                 publication as FYI RFC.

  55.    Dec 95       Develop initial framework for HARTS-Tools document.

  57.    Dec 95       Working Group review and approvial of final draft of summary 
  58.                 document survey.

  60.    Mar 96       Review survey results and set up a plan for incorporating into
