- All movement in the game is made with a joystick. A player can walk, jump,
- and jump while moving to jump over objects or get onto them.

- Note: Don't worry about conserving throwing stones and other objects. When
- you move to Level 2, only the Diary, Magic Spells, and Potions go
- with you! View is from upper SE corner of rooms.

- Cavern - Pick up the diary, coin, and pickaxe. Exit to north.
- Tunnel - Operate lever to unlock door to northern area of Tunnel.
- Tunnel - (north) Pick up bag of throwing stones. Exit through W door.
- Tunnel - (west) Use the throwing stones on the floating tentacle monster.
- If the stones disappear into the monster's image, you are scoring hits.
- After you kill the tentacle creature, push one of the barrels to the west
- wall. Jump up onto it to reach the ring you see high on the wall. Take
- the south door.
- Tunnel - (board area) That's a spell on the board, but as soon as you
- touch it a spider will drop down. My spider technique is to jump onto
- them. You take a little damage, but not as much as just letting them
- bite you. Keep the Turn Monster spell. Return through the door.
- Tunnel - (west) Now go through the north door.
- Tunnel - (rock room) Hidden behind the bags of rocks is a gem. Shuffle the
- bags to reach it, but watch out for the maggot! Return to the W Tunnel,
- then proceed to the N tunnel, then exit to the E tunnel.
- Tunnel - (east) Exit SE to Main Chamber.
- Main Chamber - Every time you enter this room, a maggot will appear for you
- to stomp. Get the rope. One of the barrels contains a stamina (healing)
- potion that's good for many swigs. Whenever your stamina gets low, come
- back here for another drink. Take the east exit.
- Tunnel - (east of Main Chamber) - Continue through to Chamber.
- Chamber - Take the bread and the key. Don't eat any food on this Level!
- Now return to the Cavern.
- Cavern - The key you picked up will let you exit to the east.
- Cavern - (east) Take the bag of throwing stones. The chest contains a clue. Pull the lever to unlock door on S wall of Main Chamber. Go there.
- Tunnel - (south of Main Chamber) You need to use the pickaxe to get past this
- wall. Stand near the door and throw the axe at the wall. It should knock
- out a section and land at the base. Now walk up to the axe and kick it
- until the wall is gone! Continue to south.
- Passage - Walk east to the next section.
- Passage - (center) Walk east to the next section.
- Passage - (east) Take N door.
- Passage - (northeast) Go through W opening.
- Well - Watch out for the Lake Monster! Get the large steel key hidden under
- the bones. Get the skull, too. Return to NE Passage.
- Passage - (northeast) Take door on W wall, near NW corner.
- Store - Open the chest, and take the food and coin. Return to NE Passage.
- Passage - (northeast) Take N door.
- Gaol - Take coin on table. Use key in lock; this unlocks the four cells.
- Enter Cell 2 (numbered clockwise from lock).
- Cell 2 - Feed the prisoner three items of food to receive three clues.
- Gaol - Enter Cell 4.
- Cell 4 - Take bronze door key for Passage Room.
- Gaol - Return to E Passage.
- Passage - (east) Take east door.
- Passage - (room) Take gem from altar; read clue. The button on the wall
- opens the pit cover in the Cadaver Store. Take E door.
- Passage - (east of room) - Take E door.
- Embalming Room - Examine the skeleton. There is a skeleton key hidden in it.
- Take N door.
- Balm Store - Check out the potions on the Stone Block; take the ones that
- seem useful. Use the key covered in spiders webs you find on the floor in
- the lock. After you kill the spiders, return to Embalming Room.
- Embalming Room - The E door is now unlocked.
- Purificatory - Read clue, take Learn Potion Spell, Freeze Spell and
- Unknown Potion in frogskin. Return to Passage Room.
- Passage Room - Push button and take N door.
- Cadaver Store - Throw rope into pit. Enter pit.
- Pit - That pesky Lake Monster is here again! Dodge his spit while you work
- in this room. First head for the chest. You need the badly damaged key
- next to it. Open the chest to get the urn with the Chief Alchemist's
- ashes. Next get the lead key out of the dead rat. This will allow you to
- enter the tunnel to the east.
- Tunnel - Head east.
- Pit - (east) There are two ways out of the pit. You can drink the frog
- (giant jump) potion, and go up the chain in the Tunnel, or else throw all
- six gems into the lake. I'll use the gems here. Take the gems and return
- to the main Pit.
- Pit - Throw six gems into the lake.
- Lord's Crypt - Read the clue and head S.
- Passage - (south of room) Head W.
- Passage - (room) Continue W to Passage area with 4 wall buttons.
- Passage - Prepare for a fight when you head S. Try to hit the Hopper with
- stones when he's headed away from you, flee when he heads for you. This
- is an excellent place to save!
- Passage - (connector) After the Hopper is defeated, unlock the south door
- with the skeleton key.
- Passage - (southeast) Head west along the passage and cross the boards.
- Passage - (southwest) Stop outside the door at the W end and ready a Freeze
- Spell. Then take the door.
- Mourning Room - Freeze the Hopper on the slab and then stone it to death.
- Take the gold and the two flasks of holy water. Ready your Freeze Spell
- again and head through the S door.
- Kings Chapel - Freeze and ice this Hopper; take the Royal Seal Key with you
- through the W door.
- Kings Crypt - Pass through to W.
- Ante Room - Head S to Treasury.
- Treasury - The Royal Seal Key allows you to open the chest here. Get the coin
- and the leg of cured meat. Read the clue. Return to the Kings Crypt.
- Kings Crypt - Head N to the Kings Armoury. To get the Kings Treasure, you
- must masquerade as the King. Select the proper weapon, shield, and armor
- from this room: Shield Bears the Device of the King - Wulf III Breastplate
- - Well Wrought Blade - Helm with Circlet of Gold. Return to the Ante Room
- and push the button.
- Inner Treasury - Scarf up the gold and the crown! Use the lever to pop back
- to the Ante Room. Return to the southeast Passage.
- Passage - (southeast) Ready your throwing stones and take the S door.
- Great Chapel - Try to dodge the Beetles when they drop; after that they
- move in a static pattern and are easy to kill. Head through the center
- door on the S wall and take out the third beetle. Continue S.
- Inner Sanctum - Take door to E.
- Crematorium - Place Urn on empty pedestal on E side of room to receive a
- vial of blood. Return to Inner Sanctum.
- Inner Sanctum - Place blood on altar; receive a complex key and a Read
- Magic Spell. The key unlocks the door on N wall. There are only clues
- behind it, so I'll skip that area. Go to the Great Chapel north.
- Great Chapel - (north) Stomp out the two flame pots to unlock E door.
- Way of Death - Take S door.
- Lesser Shrine - Get Carolus Key.
- Way of Death - Head E, then take first door to N.
- Holy Crypt - Check out the large urn for some gold and a maggot!
- Way of Death - (east) Cross the boards, deal with the spiders, and take the
- north door.
- Lesser Crypt - There is a Bless Weapon Spell hidden in the stone pile.
- Way of Death - (east) Take E door
- Common Crypt - One urn contains a maggot. When it smashes, a key appears
- on the altar. Take the key. The other two urns each contain an object.
- Push the urns off the slab to access a Dispell Trap Spell and a jar.
- Opening the jar earns you a trumpet blast, but I don't know why. Now go
- through the E door.
- Shrine - Take Throwing Stones, coins, but don't touch the rat!
- Common Crypt - Take S door.
- Gluttons Shrine - Place leg of meat on altar and receive a Speed Potion.
- Common Crypt - Use one of the keys to exit W.
- Way of Death - (east) Take S door.
- Warriors Crypt - One of the coins you gathered is actually a funerary coin.
- Drop it on Kazak's crypt and receive a fire shield potion. Return to the
- W end of the Way of Death and take the N door.
- Lords Crypt - Pass through to N.
- Treasury - Use the Dispell Trap Spell and open the chest. Acquire the gold
- and the Soul of Carolus (even though it hurts). Return to the Great Chapel
- south.
- Great Chapel - (south) Place Carolus' soul on the empty altar next to the
- one with the flame pot. You receive an Unknown Spell. Move to Inner Sanctum.
- Inner Sanctum - Head through S door.
- Passage - (off Sanctum) Head through S door.
- Treasury - Take Bright Liquid (it's a 10 point Stamina Potion).
- Passage - (off Sanctum) Enter W doorway.
- Purificatory - Be on your toes. Guess who's in the water? Take the flask of
- holy water. Now you have three. So do the routine three times: Drop the
- flask into the bowl. Drink from the bowl. Get transported to Inner
- Treasury. Pull lever to get 1. Magic Shield Potion 2. Magic Missile Spell
- 3. Mind Blast Spell. Pull lever again to be transported back to Treasury.
- Return to Passage with the four buttons.
- Passage - (center) Use the Read Magic Spell on the Unknown Spell. It's a
- Massacre Spell! Now check yourself out. Drink enough from that barrel in
- the Main Chamber to get you up to 100 Stamina Points. OK. The four buttons
- are a combination lock for the door west of them. The Prisoner gave you
- the first digit. The whole combination is 1432. Punch in the combination.
- Get the Massacre Spell ready and hit that door!
- Guardian - As soon as you're inside the door, fire the Massacre Spell and
- well, massacre the dragon. Inspect the corpse to pick up some gold. Push
- the button on the N wall. Take the door next to it.
- Teleport - Pull Lever and stand by for Level 2!
