(The Atlanticus was returned in 1815.) Notes on painting, perspective, water, mechanics, and other topics are collected in Manuscript A. Manuscript B, the earliest (ca. 1487-90), contains drawings of weaponry and flying machines, as well as designs for centrally planned churches. Manuscript C preserves Leonardo's notes for a treatise on light and shadow; Manuscript D is a treatise on the eye. Notebooks E, F, and G are largely devoted to scientific subjects.
