protocol was change to E2 type with the ECONFIG utility.
Fixes problems with address aliasing and transmit underrun in
8216 boards.
-- Version 6.04 (June 17, 1993) --
New version of Server & Shell for 8216 boards that is
compatable with more machines.
Initialization code in Shell is released after loading, thus
the Shell takes up less system memory than previous versions.

-- Version 6.00 (5/14/93) --
New implementation of both 286 Server and IPX Shell designed
to support 8216 (Ultra) Family of LAN Adapters.
New implementation of Appletalk Phase II in 286 server
-- Version 5.00 (11/13/92) --
New IPX driver utilizing new design implementation. Also,
supports SNMP processing.
-- Version 4.03 --
Fixed General Protection Interrupt errors when using Jumpers
config option.
-- Version 4.02 --
Fixed false conflict between disk driver and jumpers config. (This
bug was present in both server and shell, however, there was no
comparable symptom in the shell driver).
Fixed GPI errors when using fixed config (server)
Fixed "Adapter not found" message that was reported when using MCA
adapters (server).
-- Version 4.00 --
Changed Signon string to SMC. Put software configured adapters
first in configuration table.
-- Version 3.12 --
Fixed no NIC test failure when garbage was printed on a Micro
Channel machine if no adapter was found.
Fixed problem with workstation driver to make it work with 32K
of RAM on the 8003EBT and 8003WT adapters.
Fixed interrupt problem with driver that caused it to hang when
running on 16 bit AT bus adapters in 16 bit mode.
Fixed a problem with the server driver that caused it to not be
linkable on certain Micro Channel machines.
-- Version 3.11 --
Modified server code so that four (4) drivers will now
be able to load on the server. Added support for 8013EP/A
and 8013WP/A Micro Channel adapter boards.
-- Version 3.10 --
Added version string information so that Novell VERSION
program will be able to print out the signon string upon
execution.
-- Version 3.09 --
Changed overflow code to follow the June 1989 specification.
Changed file names and sign-on strings for AppleTalk Phase 1
and Phase 2 drivers. The RAM base address of the following
non-software jumper configured adapters must be on a 32 Kbyte
boundary (i.e., C8000, D0000, D8000):
- 8003E
- 8003EBT
- 8013EBT
- 8003S
-- Version 3.08 --
Adds full 16-bit compatibility when using 16-bit Ethernet
adapters in conjunction with 16-bit video adapters.
This version contains modifications for the WD83C690 Network
Interface Controller. This version or later versions must
be used with adapters which contain the WD83C690. It is
recommended that the latest version of the driver be used
in all applications.
NOTE: Use of adapters which contain the WD83C690 with
previous versions of this driver may lead to data
integrity problems.
There is a known problem during connection retry in situations
where the cable has been disconnected from a workstation LAN
adapter. If the cable is disconnected and the user attempts to
access the network, the following error message will display:
"Error sending on network, Abort, Retry, Ignore?"
The cable must be reconnected, then "R" must be pressed twice
(rather than once) to retry connection and resume normal
network communication.
-- Version 3.07 --
The server driver was modified to work with an AppleTalk Phase I
Network. To use this new capability, the AppleTalk VAPS must be
purchased from Novell. The server is built in the usual manner.
The workstation driver has been modified to share the LAN adapter
with the new 8003PKDR.EXE driver which conforms to the FTP
Software Packet Driver Specification. The 8003PKDR driver can
interface to TCP/IP software from FTP Software and other vendors
which support the FTP Packet Driver Specification. With these new
drivers, a workstation can communicate with Novell/IPX and TCP
nodes concurrently through a single 8003/8013 family LAN adapter.
For installation information, refer to the INSTALL.DOC file
included with the drivers.
The server and workstation drivers were both modified to work
with the new JUMPERS v2.00 utility supplied by Novell. With this
utility, both the shell and server can be configured to match
any jumper or software configuration that can be set on the
adapter. The changes to the drivers reduce the amount of
configuration options available through the configuration
table. If other configurations are desired, use the JUMPERS
utility to modify the linked IPX.COM or NET$OS.EXE files.
See the JUMPERS documentation furnished by Novell, and the
INSTALL.DOC file furnished with this driver.
The default packet format for StarLAN Networks was changed in
this release. The current default is the 802.3 packet format
which is the same as the Ethernet format. This makes the default
incompatible with the previous driver's default packet format
for StarLAN. For information on changing the default packet
format for StarLAN refer to the INSTALL.DOC file.
-- Version 3.06 --
IBM PS/2-Models 25 and 30286 are supported in this version.
The Netware 386 MAP ROOT command is supported in this version.
This version is compatible with the Novell utility JUMPERS v1.00.
This utility may be used to reconfigure the IPX.COM file and
create configurations not contained in the driver configuration
table. JUMPERS map may also be used to set the StarLAN packet
protocol. Refer to the INSTALL.DOC file for more information on
StarLAN packet protocols.
-- Version 3.05 --
Changed to work with the PS/2 Model 55 and the PS/2 Model 30.
-- Version 3.04 --
New functions have been added to increase the driver's
flexibility and some old problems have been fixed with this
release. This driver supports the entire 8003/8013 family of
LAN adapters.
NOTE: Do not use the NetWare 386 version 3.0 MAP ROOT
function with version 3.04 or earlier versions
of this driver.
In this release, the driver will read the configuration in-
formation directly from registers in software configured
XT/AT bus adapters (currently 8003EB and 8003W) in the same
way that Micro Channel adapters have been configured in the
past. This "Auto Configuration" feature eliminates the need
to reconfigure the driver to match different adapter config-
urations.
When using StarLAN adapters, this driver can be configured
to use either the Novell StarLAN driver compatible packet
format (AT&T StarLAN compatible) or the standard IEEE 802.3
packet format.
More information about these features as well as tips on how
to best use them can be found in the INSTALL.DOC file.
This driver contains fixes for two problems which existed in
previous drivers, including the Novell certified v2.11.3 driver.
Problem 1: (A workstation problem)
- Regarding the IPX call to Cancel Request and occurred only
in certain NetBIOS applications which call this IPX function.
Problem 2:
- Occurred only on certain adapter revisions when under high
load situations. This problem caused the server to "lock up"
or get a GPI interrupt.
-- Version 3.02 --
This release provides support for the 8013EBT adapter. It
contains a completely new driver configuration table to support
adapters with 8, 16, and 32 Kbytes of RAM. The default con-
figuration has changed to IRQ 3, Base I/O 280, RAM at CA00:0
for 8 Kbytes.
There is one known problem with this driver, Configuration 12
(IRQ=2, I/O Base=220, RAM at C000:0 for 32 Kbytes) will NOT
function with an 8013EBT adapter in the file server.
-- Version 2.11.3 --
The driver files were moved to the root directory to comply
with new NetWare v2.15 installation procedures, and the
8003.LAN file was changed to specify floppy disk volume label
LAN_DRV_200 instead of LAN_DRV_002. No software changes to
the actual driver were made.
