STANDARD MICROSYSTEMS CORPORATION
IBM LAN Server v2.0 and v3.0 OS/2 Requester
For EtherPower 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Network Adapters
INSTALLATION GUIDE
This software is licensed by SMC for use by its customers only.

All rights reserved.
This installation guide:
o Provides an overview.
o Describes supplied files.
o Describes how to use EZStart to copy the IBM LAN server OS/2
requester from the SuperDisk to your PC.
o Describes how to install the IBM LAN server OS/2 requester.
NOTE: Refer also to the NDIS.DOC file located in the NDIS2 directory
for complete information regarding DOS and OS/2 NDIS2 drivers.
NDIS.DOC describes:
o An overview of the NDIS2 driver.
o Preinstallation hardware and software requirements.
o Adapter installation notes.
o Basic driver installation (for any network operating system).
o Installing multiple adapters.
o How to define line speed, mode of operation, PCI slot
number and other parameters via PROTOCOL.INI.
NOTE: Ensure that the line speed (10 Mbps vs. 100 Mbps) configured
for the adapter matches the speed of the hub to which it is
attached.
Configuration information is stored in the PROTOCOL.INI file.
It is important to set the adapter at the correct line speed
(10/100 Mbps) using the PROTOCOL.INI parameter DATA_RATE.
For example, to enable operation at 10 Mbps, add the DATA_RATE
line to the '9332OS2_NIF' section of PROTOCOL.INI as shown
below:
[9332OS2_NIF]
Drivername=SMCPWR$
Data_Rate=MB10
Two other important PROTOCOL.INI parameters are SIA_MODE, which
defines the serial interface connection (including full-duplex
or half-duplex operation), and SLOT, which specifies the PCI
slot number location of the adapter.
Refer to the section in NDIS.DOC titled PROTOCOL.INI PARAMETERS
for further details.
OVERVIEW
This driver supports SMC EtherPower Ethernet and SMC EtherPower
10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI adapters.

(NDIS) v2.0.1 defined by Microsoft/3Com. The driver has been tested
with Microsoft LAN Manager, 3Com 3+Open, IBM LAN Server, IBM PC LAN
Program, DEC Pathworks, and other NDIS-compatible network operating
systems and protocol stacks.
