Version 3.11 9 April 1998
VERSION HISTORY
-- Version 3.11 (Current Version) --
Fixed a problem causing Client32 for Windows 95 to freeze or reboot when
adapter was receiving packets during initialization.
Added SNOOZE keyword.
Fixed a problem in autodetect/sense regarding the preservation the
snooze/sleep/run mode.
Fixed the clearing of cache line size when writing CFLT to a minimum value
on systems that provide a too small laatency timer value.
Made the driver more robust running under Client32 for Windows 95.
Changed the Windows 95 INF file to include TX_DESCRIPTORS=64 keyword. This
was done in order to reduce memory consumption of the NIOS when a DC21x4 driver
loads.
Fixed an abend problem, in Novell server, when failing to read the adapter's
serial ROM.
-- Version 2.14 --
Changed the destructors to delete memory on-line thereby reducing max memory
usage during CreateNIC and footprint afterwards (55% max, and 75% footprint).
Added DC21041 Autosense support.
Added a special flavor of the driver that is SPEC 3.2 compliant (i.e. does not use
NBI from Novell) in order to have a solution for the Netware 3.11 platforms.
Added updates of 10/100 switching in the config tables.
Corrected the NC and LC wrong count on full duplex problem.
Updated the README files to show current kit (including 3.11 support)
Fixed a problem in WriteCSR6 that caused a hang on certain SMP machines.
-- Version 2.13 --
Fixed the problem where DC21140 was not working properly because the GEP control word
was not written correctly.
Solved the problem where SMP machines with secondary APIC did nor send interrupts to the
driver because we limited the interrupt number to 15 (max) which is NOT true in SMP.
Added SROM spec v4.00 support.
Added MICROLINEAR support, both FORCE and AUTOSENSE.
-- Version 2.12 --
Fixed QSI disconnect problems during dynamic Autosense.
Fixed a problem in the memory management scheme that
could create a system abend on some very rare occasions.
-- Version 2.11 --
Added support for newer cards.
-- Version 2.10 --
Added support for the 9334BDT and 9332BVT network cards.
Added support to correctly detect the line speed on the National
physical layer device when the hub/switch is a non-NWAY device.
Fixed a problem found during Novell's certification stress test.
-- Version 2.03 --
Added support for the 9332BDT adapter.
Known limitations:
For optimal performance, do not use this driver with the older
9332DST adapter. Please use the certified driver version 1.13
or look for a new revision of the driver on the SMC BBS in the
future.
Added Novell's workaround for Novell Green River NetWare on SMP
-- Version 2.02 --
Fixed a problem with excessive transmit underflows caused by the
driver and the OPTI PCI chipset.
Updated the LDI file to conform to the new Novell Plug-and-Play
standard.
-- Version 2.00 -
The driver supports Novell ODI 32 bit driver spec 3.3.
The driver supports NBI (new bus interface) by Novell.
-- Version 1.13 --
Added AUTODETECT feature on the new 8432 adapters.
Added support for snooze/sleep modes on the 9332.
Fixed a problem with fragmented buffers.
Added flow control feature for small number of buffers.
Added support for the 10/100 power-up and dynamic autosensing
on the 9332 adapters.
-- Version 1.10 --
Added reentrant code to support a heavily-loaded interrupt-sharing,
twin-segment system.
Improved handling of receive and transmit errors. Also, the
watchdog routines were changed to avoid issuing resets while
continuing to handle a starvation problem.
Added the SBASE keyword.
Improved performance of DC21140-based systems.
Added 'Rx Abort Frame Alignment' counter.
-- Version 1.05 --
Added support for the new 8432 & 9332 with updated EEROMs.
Supports serial ROM format version 1.00.
Added an error message to warn user on PCI machines that have
the INTEL PCMC chip rev 1, and that are configured in cache
write back mode, for possible problems that might arise.
-- Version 1.02 --
Driver will now print the adapter number according to the chip
found on it:
Adapter - 8432/8434 for the DC21040 (Ethernet chip).
Adapter - 9332 for the DC21140 (Fast-Ethernet chip).
-- Version 1.00 --
Certified by Novell.
-- Version 0.31 --
