  5.    A. Installation:
  6.  
  7.       1. Plug Winbond W89C840 card into one of the PCI slots of your PC.
  8.  
  9.       2. Turn power on then boot from Windows 98.
  10.  
  11.       3. If Windows 98 prompts PCI Ethernet Controller in New Hardware Found
  12.          dialog box, then please follow below steps to install driver :
  13.  
  14.          3.1 Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" from
  15.              New Hardware Found dialog box, then click OK button.
  16.          3.2 Insert this driver disk into drive A:, type the path A:\WIN98
  17.              and click the 'OK' button.
  18.          3.3 When the 'Winbond W89C840 based 100M/10M PCI Ethernet Adapter'
  19.              dialog box appears, press <Enter>.
  20.          3.4 Follow screen instructions to complete the process.

  22.       4. Restart your computer.

  25.    B. Parameters :
  26.  
  27.       1. BurstLen     = 32 dwords
  28.          Burst Length defines the maximum number of long words that can be
  29.          transferred within one PCI burst transaction.
  30.          The reasonable values are "1 dword", "2 dwords", "4 dwords",
  31.          "8 dwords", "16 dwords" and "32 dwords".

  33.       2. CacheAlign   = 32 dwords
  34.          Cache Alignment defines the address boundary for data burst.
  35.          The reasonable values are "8 dwords", "16 dwords" and "32 dwords".

  37.       3. Threshold    = full packet
  38.          This value decides the transmit threshold level of the transmit FIFO.
  39.          Transmission will start immediately after the transmit FIFO has
  40.          reached the threshold level or full pkt has been transferred to the
  41.          transmit FIFO if the frame length is less than the transmit threshold
  42.          level.
  43.          The reasonable values are "full packet", "16 bytes", "80 bytes",
  44.          "96 bytes", "128 bytes", "256 bytes", "512 bytes" and "1024 bytes".

  46.       4. LineSpeed    = AutoDetect
  47.          This adapter can be operationed in 10M or 100M Mbps.
  48.          The reasonable values are AutoDetect(auto detect line speed by the
  49.          driver), 10M(set the line speed is 10M) and 100M(set the line speed
  50.          is 100M).

  52.       5. FullDuplex   = AutoDetect
  53.          This adapter can be in half or full duplex mode. In half duplex mode,
  54.          the W89C840 can only either transmit or receive. In full duplex mode,
  55.          the W89C840 can transmit and receive at the same time.
  56.          The reasonable values are AutoDetect(auto detect full duplex function
  57.          by the driver), Disable(disable full duplex), and Enable(enable full
  58.          duplex).

  60.       6. Nway  = On
  61.          The parameter 'Nway' is used to disable or enable the
  62.          autonegotiation function. The default value of nway is on. The
  63.          reasonable values are OFF(disable the nway function) and ON(enable
  64.          the nway function).
