The half-lives of these radioactive transactinide elements are short. Notice
that, moving across the six d row, as the atomic number increases the elements are
becoming less and less stable. But some scientists have predicted that this trend will be
reversed towards the end of the six d row and into the seven p row. They say that an
island of stability will be reached around element one-one-four, un-un-quadium, which
should have isotopes with half-lives of years. The quest is still on.
