  5. 1. SECRET OF MONKEY ISLAND
  6. You all know this one; you play  the part of Guybrush in his
  7. quest to become a  pirate.  It  has  to  be  one of the best
  8. graphics adventure games of all time.
  9.  
  10. 2. PARASOL STARS
  11. The sequel to "Rainbow Islands", Parasol Stars is one of the
  12. most famous platform-arcade  games  ever  released  onto the
  13. budget market.
  14.  
  15. 3. FUTURE WARS
  16. I'm not sure if this one's  still  available, but I hope so.
  17. It's  another  brilliant  graphic   adventure,  like  Monkey
  18. Island, where you have to stop aliens from planting bombs on
  19. the earth. If you don't then the earth's in trouble.
  20.  
  21. 4. CRYSTAL KINGDOM DIZZY
  22. It's supposed to be £24.99, but  you can get it from Premier
  23. Mail Order for £14.99 so  we'll  call  this budget. It's the
  24. best Dizzy adventure  yet,  and  it  may  also  be the last,
  25. unfortunately. This one sees you finding the stolen treasure
  26. and putting it back  in  its  righteous place. Brilliant and
  27. even more addictive!

  29. 5. DIZZY: PRINCE OF THE YOLKFOLK
  30. Yep, our eggy chum's back again.  This time Daisy's gone and
  31. pricked (excuse the expression) herself on a mystic spinning
  32. wheel in the same style as  Sleeping Beauty (there's a blast
  33. from the  past!).  Anyway,  with  the  help  of  some  other
  34. characters and some good  puzzle  solving,  you have to save
  35. her from an early grave.
  36.  
  37. 6. SPELLBOUND DIZZY
  38. Over 100 screens of puzzles  in  this one. Dizzy's back, and
  39. guess what stupid thing he's done  now?  No? Well, he read a
  40. spell out of Wizard Theodore's  book  and  now he's gone and
  41. whisked all the  yolkfolk  away  to  the  "underworld". More
  42. puzzle solving and the collecting  of stars helps bring them
  43. back....

  45. 7. MAGICLAND DIZZY
  46. Flip! These Dizzy games seem to  be coming top! In this one,
  47. the Evil Wizard Zaks has gone and turned all of the yolkfolk
  48. into nasty things; Dylan's been  turned  into a bush, Denzil
  49. into a block of ice, Daisy has been made extra large, Dora's
  50. been made into a frog and  a  whole lot more. Rescue all the
  51. yolkfolk and then destroy the Evil Wizard Zaks for ever....
  52.  
  53. 8. GRANDAD 2 - IN SEARCH OF THE SANDWICHES
  54. Not exactly a  budget  game,  but  it's  good  enough to be.
  55. Actually, it's good enough to be a commercial title. In this
  56. one, you guide Grandad around  the  theme  park in search of
  57. his sandwiches, you interact with other characters and solve
  58. puzzles in order to find them.  A  must for all gamers. From
  59. all good PDLs.

  61. 9. ANOTHER WORLD
  62. Another brilliant graphic adventure  game.  Smooth and slick
  63. animation along with  brilliant  sound  effects and gameplay
  64. make this tops! Check out the review in this issue.

  66. 10. MIDWINTER 2 - FLAMES OF FREEDOM
  67. We  really  liked  this  one.  We  still  do!  It's  another
  68. adventure game, but in this  one  several types of game seem
  69. to pop up! It's really weird, but really good.

  71. 11. CARRIER COMMAND
  72. This one's a  3D  flight  sim  with  brilliant  graphics and
  73. sound, not forgetting  that  important ingredient, gameplay.
  74. Carrier Command  is  simply  one  of  the  best  flight sims
  75. around.
  76.  
  77. 12. FANTASY WORLD DIZZY
  78. Just when you thought he'd  gone  for  good, he's back - and
  79. eggier than ever! Daisy's  been  and  got  herself locked up
  80. in cloudland and you've got to  rescue her. The second Dizzy
  81. adventures sees good  puzzles,  nice  graphics and brilliant
  82. gameplay.

  84. 13. GRANDAD AND THE QUEST FOR THE HOLEY VEST
  85. The first in the "Grandad"  series.  In this one, our smelly
  86. chum has lost his vest  and  you  have  to help him find it.
  87. Brilliant graphics and puzzles and overall a wonderful game.
  88. it's Shareware and you need  to  register  it to play all of
  89. it, but it's damn worth it. From all good PDLs.

  91. 14. TREASURE ISLAND DIZZY
  92. Not again? Yes - again! The  first adventure game on the 16-
  93. bits, although not on the 8-bits.  Dizzy's been made to walk
  94. the plank, and you have to help  him get off of the treasure
  95. island he's managed to swim  to.  Not  as  good as the other
  96. adventures, but still a  brilliant  game  especially as it's
  97. only £4.99!

  99. 15. NEW ZEALAND STORY
  100. Oh - the good old days!  I  remember playing this on my C64.
  101. It's still brilliant  even  now  on  my  ST.  Famous for its
  102. rather rude cheat, this one  is  one of the best platformers
  103. ever made. You should get this now - it's only £7.99!
  104.  
  105. 16. CRUISE FOR A CORPSE
  106. I should have put this  further  up  the chart, but I forgot
  107. about it. It really  deserves  fifth  place  so bear that in
  108. mind. Made  by  the  makers  of  that  brilliant  adventure,
  109. Another World, in this one  you  have  to  try and solve the
  110. mystery of a murder  on  board  a  ship  in  true Cluedo and
  111. Agatha Christie style. It's very good and features very good
  112. graphics and animation, thanks to Delphine Software.

  114. 17. PLOP!
  115. A brilliant Shareware  game  on  the  ST,  courtesy  of Digi
  116. Tallis. It's a sort of board game where you can play against
  117. the computer or against a friend. Very good indeed with some
  118. nice sound  effects  and  good  graphics  -  it's  also very
  119. addictive.
  120.  
  121. 18. MIDI MAZE
  122. Another  Shareware  game  which  I  still  play.  You  can't
  123. complete it,  you  see,  and  it's  always  different.  Why?
  124. Because it's a multi-player game where you can link up to 16
  125. STs together. You have to  go  around  a maze trying to find
  126. your opponent and shooting him until  he loses a life. There
  127. are loads of power-ups in this one and nothing beats playing
  128. against a human.

  130. 19. PRINCE OF PERSIA
  131. Brilliant animation and excellent gameplay  make this one of
  132. the best platform-puzzlers ever. The aim  of this game is to
  133. find  and  rescue  the  princess   by  solving  puzzles  and
  134. wandering around rooms.

  136. 20. MEGA LO MANIA
  137. "The factory's been destroyed!",  "Tower  Critical" and "Ha!
  138. No..." are some of the  all-famous samples which appeared in
  139. this brilliant god-game, Mega Lo Mania. It's mega addictive,
  140. and if you don't know what  it's  about, you should do! I'll
  141. never forget Oberon  asking  "Do  you  want  to  come  on my
  142. team?"!!!

  144. 21. WIZKID
  145. The sequel to that  much-loved  game,  Wizball. This one's a
  146. brightly coloured platform game where  you  take on the part
  147. of Wizballs son, Wizkid. Wizball,  Nifta  the cat and Wizard
  148. have all been captured and you have to wander around, trying
  149. to free them.

  151. 22. OXYD
  152. Another Shareware game. In this one, you take on the part of
  153. a little black marble who has to unlock all the Oxyds. These
  154. are the things  which  keep  the  air  supply  going. You're
  155. supposed to be inside a computer, and the graphics and sound
  156. on this game are brilliant. You  can  also play along with a
  157. friend via MIDI or MODEM or NULL MODEM. Wow!!

  159. 23. FAST FOOD
  160. Dizzy's back, but this time, not in an adventure. The aim of
  161. this game is to go  around  a  maze,  eating all the food to
  162. move onto the  next  levels.  This  one  has  some brilliant
  163. animations and graphics, and there  is always a nice, bouncy
  164. tune to hum away to in the background. Good. Very good.

  166. 24. RICK DANGEROUS TWO
  167. He's back! In the sequel to  RICK DANGEROUS, you have to try
  168. and free yourself  from  even  more  mazes.  The puzzles are
  169. maddening, and the game  is  truely  addictive. Graphics are
  170. better, too.
  171.  
  172. 25. HEIMDALL
  173. You go around the  world  on  a  boat,  going from island to
  174. islands in search of three objects.  This game is very good,
  175. comes on five disks  and  has  brilliant graphics and sound.
  176. It's an adventure type game  with  a difference. I'm not too
  177. sure if it's still around, though.
  178.
